I'm going on a magical mystery tour of Manchester Jewellery Week exhibitions today. Starting with a couple of talks at Mcr Craft &Design Centre. I'm most excited to see my work in the 24 Carat Party People exhibition in the Mcr Art Gallery shop and the work at the HOME Arches which sounds wild. After the talks I'll be exploring all the work at the Craft Centre too. Who's coming, or what have you seen already?

Manchesters first ever jewellery Week is coming! And as part of it we're having an (almost) month long exhibition in the Manchester Art Gallery Shop. Come and get inspired.

The inaugural Manchester Jewellery Week ‘I Wanna be Adorned’ (10th – 16th Septmber 20206) will be a fabulous city-wide celebration of contemporary handmade jewellery, art jewellery and adornment.

As part of MJW, Manchester Jewellers Network is curating a exhibition in Manchester Art Gallery Shop.

"24 Carat Party People" at Manchester Art Gallery brings together a diverse collective of eleven contemporary jewellers from Manchester Jewellers Network to translate the city’s radical musical heritage into wearable art. Independent makers bridge the gap between subcultural soundwaves and tangible adornment, juxtaposing the gritty, moody, industrial minimalism of late-70s post-punk (Joy Division, New Order) with the baggy, euphoric, kaleidoscopic swagger of the Madchester era (The Stone Roses, Chemical Brothers). Through sharp geometric metalwork and unexpected textures, the artists immortalise these sonic rhythms, capturing the iconic energy of the legendary Manchester music scene using everything from precious metals, vitreous enamels, and gemstones to glass, 3D printing, and vinyl.

Manchester Jewellers Network is a collective of artists and jewellers who regularly exhibit together and support eachother creatively.

Our exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery Shop "24 Carat Party People" is inspired by the rich musical history of Manchester.
