OK, so this one has taken a bit of a different turn… 👀
I definitely had NO intention of adding butterflies to this design, but as I was painting I suddenly thought, “Ooo… some pretty little butterflies would look lovely here.” 🦋
The only problem? The butterfly stencils I’d already made were way too big, they’re more of a centrepiece size.
So I thought… well, I’ll just make some smaller versions! 😂
And I did. And then I added them to the mandala… and I’m SO glad I did because they’re looking gorgeous! 😍
I love that I never really know exactly how one of my mandalas is going to turn out. I start with an idea, but then there are all these little twists and turns along the way, adding a little something here, changing something there, until suddenly the whole thing comes together.
And because I’m always working on tiny sections, I don’t actually see the bigger picture until the very end.
That full reveal is honestly one of my favourite parts. ✨
I’ve now made plenty of smaller butterfly stencils, along with some gorgeous little moths too 🦋✨ These will be available in my Etsy shop tomorrow.
