I'm very excited to be a part of ManchesterJewellersNetwork exhibition 24ct party people at Manchester Art Gallery. It's an incredible collection curated as part of to celebrate the rich and vibrant Manchester music scene.

My pieces are inspired by the elbow instagram song One Day Like This especially the lines...
"Drinking in the morning sun.
Blinking in the morning sun."

Manchester is historically perceived as a dark city with an industrial landscape, grey skies and rain. "It's grim up North." Mancunians, moulded by the city are deeply resilient, gritty worker bees. Yet we are hopeful people that look towards the light and warmth of the sun, one good day to sustain us in the hamster wheel of the working week. My collection of large oxidised wrap circles coupled with Amber reflects light shining into the dark.

The inaugural Manchester Jewellery Week ‘I Wanna be Adorned’ (10th – 16th Septmber 20206) will be a fabulous city-wide celebration of contemporary handmade jewellery, art jewellery and adornment.

As part of MJW, Manchester Jewellers Network is curating a exhibition in Manchester Art Gallery Shop.

"24 Carat Party People" at Manchester Art Gallery brings together a diverse collective of eleven contemporary jewellers from Manchester Jewellers Network to translate the city’s radical musical heritage into wearable art. Independent makers bridge the gap between subcultural soundwaves and tangible adornment, juxtaposing the gritty, moody, industrial minimalism of late-70s post-punk (Joy Division, New Order) with the baggy, euphoric, kaleidoscopic swagger of the Madchester era (The Stone Roses, Chemical Brothers). Through sharp geometric metalwork and unexpected textures, the artists immortalise these sonic rhythms, capturing the iconic energy of the legendary Manchester music scene using everything from precious metals, vitreous enamels, and gemstones to glass, 3D printing, and vinyl.

BACK TO WORK

After an extra week off to home schooling and a couple of days off due to a sickness bug, the boys are finally back to school and I am back to the bench. I started the day with a quick frosty morning photo shoot and captured this image. I love the contrast of the lush gold next to the dark wood and frost. This necklace is now on display in in similar pieces are also available in my online shop (link in bio). Happy hump day!

BEST LAID PLANS

Yesterday I didn't like the thought of going back to reality, but was full of hopes and plans for today and much neglected paperwork. Well school has other plans, a burst pipe, collapsed ceiling and flood all meant the boys prays were answered. They had a snow day today and more to follow in the next day or two. So my paperwork will have to wait and I'll be returning to work a little later. Right now I'll just photo and video our beautiful surroundings and enjoy a couple more days with my boys.

HAPPY NEW YEAR &BACK TO REALITY

I hope you enjoy a wonderful Christmas. I know we had the best break, lots of board games, walks and too much cheese. I don't know that I am ready for the boys to return to school tomorrow and us to work. I want to stay in our little bubble and hibernate some more.
Studio 6 as all will remain closed until Wednesday. In the meantime I'll be working from home planning 2026 and make a start on neglected paperwork.
As I think about the year ahead and reflect on 2025, I'm starting a wishlist...
I hope the price of silver falls (think this maybe every jewellers wish 😂)
I hope the economy improves, this would really help so many small businesses.
More importantly though...
I hope this year is kind, positive, adventurous, with good news, good health and happy memories for us all.
Mostly I'm hopeful.
