Ephemera featuring handwriting is the inspiration and starting point for my work; old postcards as well as stamps, maps and photographs are collected; interesting areas are extracted and combined with metalwork, to create new contemporary stories. Contrasting styles of writing are an important aspect, combined to create new conversations. The metalwork is inspired by textures found in our urban environment and is oxidised to highlight the papers used with gold tube rivets to refer to our industrial heritage.

I’m at the studio today, so the shop is open until 5:30pm today. The sun and the breeze are dancing around the studio. Hoping to be open again tomorrow too, but I will have to see. I’m still caring for mum but managed to come back to Manchester this week while she waits patiently in a hospital ward. All thoughts to mum and her agonising waiting please!

Elements pendants are made from a combination of contrasting shapes with contrasting details in oxidised silver. Some have recycled gold elements, some have chopped vintage spoons
