Another beautiful Whitstable Oyster Shell Tree finished today at DriftwoodBeachCo HQ! 🥰

Handcrafted using sustainably beachcombed, spent oyster shells collected from the Kent Coast, each shell has been carefully cleaned, prepared and individually arranged to create this lovely coastal Christmas tree.

Decorated with delicate faux pearls, twinkling LED lights and finished with a beautiful chunky starfish topper. ⭐

I absolutely love the natural creamy shades, textures and markings of the oyster shells. No two shells are ever identical, which means every tree is completely unique! 🤍

It's amazing to think that something once discarded can be transformed into a beautiful piece of coastal Christmas décor.

From the shores of the Kent Coast to a cosy corner of your home! 🐚

Introducing my beautiful 16" Light-Up Seaglass Christmas Trees, lovingly handcrafted using genuine, sustainably beachcombed seaglass.

Available in two gorgeous colours:

🤍 Frosty White – A beautiful winter wonderland look, finished with delicate silver snowflake charms.

💚 Traditional Green – Classic Christmas colours, decorated with festive enamel charms and mini baubles.

✨ Each tree features a sparkling acrylic snowflake topper and is mounted on a 6cm LED lamp base, complete with a USB connection and handy on/off switch.

Standing approximately 16" (40cm) tall, these statement pieces look just as beautiful unlit as they do illuminated, creating a lovely warm glow when switched on. ✨

🎨🐚 Creative chaos at DriftwoodBeachCo HQ! 😂

Apparently, some people call it a mess… I prefer to call it a collection of ideas waiting to happen! 🤭🌊

Between the buckets of beachcombed treasures, piles of seaglass, seashells, driftwood, glue guns and half-finished creations, my workbench rarely sees daylight! 😂

And just when I think I've finally cleared a space… another idea pops into my head and out comes everything again! 🙈

But that's the beauty of being creative. A little chaos, a lot of imagination and plenty of coastal treasures! 🩵

Please tell me I'm not the only one whose creative space looks like a beach has exploded in it! 🤣🐚

🐚 A Blustery Afternoon of Shelling! 🌊💙

After selling out of my handcrafted oyster shell lights and trees, it was time to replenish my shell supplies!

Yesterday afternoon I wrapped up warm and headed off to Swalecliff for a spot of beachcombing. 🌬️🌊

It was certainly a blustery one, but I managed to fill my bucket with some beautiful spent oyster shells, all ready to be given a new lease of life. 🐚

Tomorrow's job will be cleaning, sorting and preparing these coastal treasures before heading back to the workbench this weekend to create more oyster shell lights and trees.

From the beach to the workbench, every shell has a story, and I just love being able to give something the sea has left behind a beautiful new purpose. 💙

Well, I've found some unusual things whilst beachcombing over the years, but this one certainly takes the biscuit! 😂

There I was, minding my own business, searching for oyster shells along the beach at Swalecliff when I stumbled across someone's missing smile! 😬🦷

I went looking for shells and ended up finding a set of false teeth instead! 🤣

I suppose you could say the beach was biting back today! 😂🌊

You really never know what the tide is going to wash up!

Whitstable oysters have been part of our beautiful Kent Coast for centuries, with a history stretching right back to Roman times!

But there's so much more to these humble shells than meets the eye. 🤍

Made naturally from calcium carbonate, oyster shells play an important role in our marine environment, providing habitats for sea life and supporting healthy coastal ecosystems.

♻️ Giving oyster shells a second life!

Here at DriftwoodBeachCo, I love repurposing sustainably sourced, spent oyster shells collected from the Kent Coast.

Rather than seeing these beautiful shells go to waste, I carefully clean and prepare them before transforming them into something special.

Every shell has a story, and this is how mine begins! 🌊

These beautiful oyster shells start their journey on the shores of Whitstable, where I sustainably beachcomb spent shells and give them a new lease of life.

Each shell is carefully cleaned, prepared and individually drilled by hand before being transformed into something rather special. 🤍

The finished result? A beautiful 3-metre string of LED Oyster Shell Lights, featuring approximately 30 genuine Kent Coast oyster shells, each illuminated with a lovely warm white glow. ✨

Introducing my latest creation at DriftwoodBeachCo HQ – my beautiful Seashell Candle Jars! 🌊💙

Handcrafted using a wonderful selection of genuine, sustainably beachcombed seashells collected from the Kent Coast, carefully arranged around an upcycled heatproof glass jar. ♻️

From cockles, mussels and whelks to limpets, periwinkles, clam shells and delicate little wentletraps, each shell has been individually collected and carefully placed to create something truly unique. 🐚

Measuring approximately 4" high × 4" wide, these little coastal treasures look just as beautiful unlit, showcasing all those gorgeous natural colours and textures, as they do illuminated, with a lovely warm glow shining through the shells. ✨
