An unexpected little adventure! 💙🌊

A last-minute invitation has turned into a three-night escape to Lewis & Harris! 🥰

Cybbie and I set off this morning, heading west across Scotland towards Ullapool. What a beautiful drive! Autumn is beginning to show off in earnest, with golden sunshine casting long shadows, leaves rustling in the breeze and the landscape slowly turning to shades of amber, copper and gold. 🍂

And then we reached the west coast... and the rain! 😂

The Minch has been relatively kind to us, with just a few white horses and a gentle roll to the ferry. The MV Loch Seafiryh I think. Cybbie wasn't entirely convinced about this seafaring business, but eventually settled down after eating most of my ham and cheese sandwich! 🙄🐾

Now we have two whole days of beaches, exploring and adventures ahead of us. Gale-force winds are forecast for tomorrow, but this is Scotland! Sometimes you just have to wrap up, head out and see what the day brings.

Often you're rewarded with extraordinary sights, sounds and scents, the kind that stay with you long after you've returned home.

And sometimes you just get very wet! 😁

I'll be taking photographs, scribbling notes, beachcombing and gathering ideas for future Tangle & Haar creations. I never quite know what will catch my eye or spark a new idea, and that's part of the joy.

A little holiday, a little creative adventure, and some precious time to simply enjoy being beside the sea. 💙

And when we get home? Straight into Charleton Farm Makers Market and the Montrose PoP shop! But that's next week's adventure. For now, the Hebrides are calling! 🌊

💙 A little reflection, a lot of gratitude, and new adventures ahead! 🥰

Yesterday I headed down to Edinburgh to collect my jewellery from Colinton Gallery and Framing.

What a wonderful experience it's been to have my work exhibited in an Edinburgh gallery! My heartfelt thanks to everyone at Colinton Arts, and especially to the gorgeous artists Alan Paterson and Wendy Davidson who invited me to share a little space in their exhibition. Also thank you to the talented Marc who curated the exhibition 💙

It's been another step in my Tangle & Haar journey, and one that's helped me discover something important about myself. I love meeting the people who buy my jewellery, sharing the stories behind my work, hearing theirs, and making those lovely human connections.

Trying different things, exploring opportunities and learning along the way is helping me find my own path. And that's rather exciting! 😊

I also came home with a little more than my jewellery!

I'm now the very happy owner of one of Wendy's beautiful paintings, Wild Daisies. 🥰 I adore the leafy greens and golden yellows against the white petals, the loose organic shapes and that wonderful translucent light. So natural, and so very me! 💚

So, what's next?

Well, Cybbie and I are off on a little adventure! 🐾 Next week we're heading to Lewis & Harris for a few days of beaches, photography, beachcombing and gathering ideas and inspiration. A holiday? Perhaps. A working holiday? Almost certainly! 😁

Apparently, it's going to rain. Well, it is the Outer Hebrides in October! 😂🌧️

Then it's back to Angus and straight into two lovely events:

🌿 17–18 October – Charleton Farm Makers Market Charleton Farm

🌊 19–24 October – Montrose Pop-Up Shop POP By ProMo

Lots to look forward to, new people to meet and new stories to share.

Life is rich and full, and I'm feeling very grateful. 🥰💙

I’ve been a little remiss with social media this past week 🤭

After the wonderful whirlwind of North East Open Studios, I needed a little break — time with family and friends, and a chance to pause, reset and catch my breath.

And now I’m back 😊

I’ve been working on commissions and towards my next two events — Charleton Farm Makers Market, 17–18 October, followed straight away by POP By ProMo Montrose PoP, 19–24 October.

And there are new pieces appearing on the bench…

I finished these little silver studs I’d been working on and, because I do love an earring with a bit of movement, I made a long drop version too.

Whorl — textured sterling silver studs
Whorl — long sterling silver drop earrings

The nested, textured circles are a little nod to the beautiful whorls of a seashell — and to the soft, swirling shapes of the haar as it moves in from the sea.

It feels good to be making again. 🌊🤍

So… what’s next for Tangle & Haar? 🌊

After the wonderful whirlwind of NEOS, I’m taking a little breath — but there’s plenty still to come.

I’m delighted that Colinton Gallery and Framing in Edinburgh have asked me to leave my jewellery with them until Christmas 🥰 I’ll be heading down soon to check on the collection, give everything a little clean and polish where needed — and I suspect a few new pieces may make the journey with me too!

It still feels rather special to see Tangle & Haar sitting amongst the work of other artists and makers in a gallery. What began at my kitchen table with pieces of sea glass has travelled rather further than I imagined. ❤️

Then October brings Charleton Market on 17–18 October, followed by another week at Montrose PoP from 19 October.

And somewhere amongst all that? A little walking with Cybbie, time with friends, some autumn beachcombing and space to let the next ideas emerge.

The seasons are changing — and Tangle & Haar is changing with them. 🍂🌊

And that’s a wrap on NEOS 2026. ✨

The lights are going out, the door is closing, and I’m feeling very grateful.

Thank you to every single person who came through my door, chatted, asked questions, shared stories, admired, encouraged — and took a little piece of Tangle & Haar home with them. May they bring you jo ❤️

Opening my studio and sharing this little world of mine with you has been rather special.
Thank you, . Until next year… 🌊✨

A little Sunday morning reset… 🌊☀️

A re-energising dook at Montrose beach with the beautiful Bears 🥰 Cold water, blue skies and sunshine — just what I needed before the final day of North East Open Studios.

Then home, warm up, and open the studio doors one last time.

Tangle & Haar Studio (234) open today, 2–5pm.
Come and say hello! 💙

I’ve been playing with fire! 🔥

One of the things I love about working with copper is that you never quite know what it’s going to give you.

These three new Sea Beech sets have all been shaped and textured by hand, then gently heated to coax different colours from the copper — and each has emerged with its own character.

One has turned a wonderful green-gold — the colour of kelp in the sunshine at at low water. Another glows with warm, flame-bright copper, like sunrise over the sea on Scotland’s east coast. And the third has soft, lively pinks, echoing the beautiful red seaweed, Delessaria, that first inspired these pieces.

I love that they are recognisably from the same family, but no two will ever be quite the same. The fire speaks in the finished piece too.

They’ll be on show in my studio over the weekend for the final two days of North East Open Studios.

One of the unexpected joys of opening my studio has been talking to so many lovely people about how I work, where my passion and ideas come from, and showing visitors the sunlit room where bits of copper, silver and sea-worn inspiration slowly become jewellery.

Come and see where the magic, and a little fire happens. 🔥❤️
