I am a self taught jewellery maker and have been creating jewellery since my early teens. I used to visit the underground market in Manchester and there was a stall there selling jewellery making materials and I was intrigued. I have always had to have things that are different and love things that are a bit "out there". I continued to make jewellery on and off and often made gifts for friends. I
first toyed with the idea of starting a small business making and selling jewellery in around 2006. Just as I started up, my husband had a serious accident and life was too complicated so I had to stop. Several years later, when I tookvoluntary redundancy, it seemed the perfect time to get my jewellery business up and running. I live in a former mill town that has transformed into a beautiful natural environment. There are lots of trees here now, hardly any mills left, steep hills and moorland with lots of nature and wildlife. It is the perfect place to live to make you feel creative and there are a lot of creatives who live here too. The natural environment is such an inspiration and often translates into my creations. As a small handcrafter, I have become friends with many more creatives online and, whenever possible, I try to support their businesses. I have friends all over the UK selling semi-precious stones, lampwork glass, silver and copper creations and, if they fit into my design, I will buy these items. I do only source the best quality materials and I am always researching new techniques to include in my designs. I do make a lot of "one of a kind" items and even some that could best be described as "wearable art". I do try to make pieces for all budgets and styles though as I appreciate that everyone loves to have a treat. I try to contrast colours and love adding vibrancy and texture to my pieces. I give every creation a name, like a good pair of shoes or a record. Bespoke requests welcome.
