Huge thanks to and for their curatorship and wonderful layout of this exhibition and for considering me to be a part of it.

Do you ever sit and wonder who has sat in your seat before? What their worries were? Their happiness? Are you comfortable striking up conversation with strangers sharing the same space as you or are you more comfortable in your own space? How do we navigate around each other in these invisible bubbles we move around in? Why do we let certain people in and avoid others?

One thing that developed in me from a young age was people watching. A few reasons for this, but a lot of the time I felt that my point of view was irrelevant so instead I would watch people.

Fast forward to current life and my partner is Turkish which means that I spend a lot of time sat with him and his friends and although I don't understand their conversations, I watch their body language and interaction with each other and the space around them. I'm fascinated with the scenes that play out. Im not good at learning languages and although I've tried and failed, I can sense the root of the discussion through body language. I admire people who speak two, three, four, five, six languages so much. But despite the language, wherever you are in the world, the heart of the discussions are always the same. Family, work, business, worries, belief, food, favourite things, gossip, politics, television etc etc. We all have our root cores which tend to be the same no matter where we are from. In this crazy world right now I think we need to remember to focus on what and who are right in front of us. Not what some billionaires we'll never ever meet and thrive from our division will try and make us think.

This is the next piece that I currently have on display at the Celebration of Welsh Contemporary Painting at Cyfartha Castle.

How much attention do we pay to what is around us? Do we observe how we individually lay out our environment, how our body language interacts, how others body language talks. How do we discuss properly with so many distractions around? Do we really engage? Really listen? Really communicate? Are our opinions swayed by social media instead of seeing what's actually in front of us?
