Day 30/30 🫶✨

And just like that… I did it. Thirty days of posting, every single day.

Some days I had beautiful finished jewellery to share. Some days it was work in progress, deliveries, old photographs, admin… and some days I was absolutely scraping the barrel at 11pm 😂

But I showed up.

I started this challenge because I wanted to get better at sharing my work and the person and process behind Layla Mae Jewellery — and somewhere along the way I think I actually started enjoying it.

Thank you so much to everyone who has watched, liked, commented, shared, messaged or simply followed along. The support and engagement genuinely means more than you probably realise. 🥹

Day 29 ✨

Turns out today is exactly 10 years since I was awarded my City & Guilds credits in Creative Techniques in 3D.

I found this recently and had completely forgotten that I got Distinctions for creating rings with multiple settings and making chains with clasps. Apparently 2016 me knew what she was doing 😂

Ten years later, jewellery is now my full-time job and I have my own little studio and business.

Not quite sure where those ten years went, but it’s pretty cool to look back at where it started. 💍

Today was mostly admin… which, let’s face it, doesn’t make for particularly exciting Instagram content 😂

Day 26 ✨ Where it all started…

This is the very first ring I ever made on my jewellery course 🥹

I remember being ridiculously proud of it — and actually, I still am. Not because it’s perfect (it definitely isn’t 😂), but because this little piece of silver was the start of something I had absolutely no idea would become such a huge part of my life.

Back then, I was just learning how to work with metal and make something with my own hands. I certainly wasn’t imagining that one day I’d have my own little studio and be making jewellery full time.

There have been a LOT of rings between this one and the ones I make now, a lot of learning, plenty of mistakes, and probably several thousand hours spent at a bench 😂

But this was number one. 🤍

And yes… I still have it. Obviously. 😂✨

Tiny pieces of silver and gold, a little fire, a lot of patience, and occasionally some mild swearing 😂

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of turning a little piece of metal into something that means something to someone.
