As predicted, these have gone like hot cakes and there is only the one pale blue/turquoise pair left! I will be making more, but forget what I said about burnt orange, I must have dreamed that ball of alpaca! Next ones will be deep blue and moss green 😁

Well, it might be April, but it’s still mitten weather out there! These fingerless mitts have a very satisfying cable and bobble detail that flows from one end to the other. Comfy and cosy, 100% wool. £20 🩵🩵🩵

Found this new pattern online and couldn’t resist 🤩

The burnt orange yarn is 100% alpaca, the white is a mix of wool, Bluefaced Leicester and nylon, making for a very squishy-cosy mitten 😍

Second-favourite mitten pattern! I’ve tweaked the thumb which is now fully gusseted 😜 and I love the way the cables flow. The yarn is 50% merino, 25% alpaca and 25% viscose.

We are very lucky here in Wigtown to have our very own yarn shop, Spinning a Yarn, owned by the amazingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic Dawn. I popped in a few weeks ago afflicted with an irresistable urge to buy a yarn I hadn't tried before, and came away with two balls of Jamieson's Shetland Heather Aran in a beautiful dark purple/aubergine colour.

Of course I had no idea what I was going to do with said yarn, but at some point inspiration struck and I seem to have written a very simple fingerless mitten pattern that I now want to share with you all this Christmas.

So now, if you need a last minute gift there is really no excuse: head over to Wigtown's very own yarn shop and grab yourself a couple of balls of this sumptuously soft Shetland wool...lots of lovely heathery shades available... With a cast on of only 36 stitches, a very simple thumb gusset and a cable pattern that doesn't even need a cable needle, you will have the perfect handmade gift in next to no time!
