I thought you may be interested to see the results of the Scottish Gemmological Association’s Gem-Set competition I was part of the judging panel for.

Congratulations to all those who won and were highly commended!

✨Attending a fundraiser ‘Bubbles, Beats and Afternoon Treats’ at The Marine in aid of Muirfield Riding Therapy - thanks to Dorothy Kellas of Gilson Gray LLP for the invitation.

✨Hanging out with the brilliant Jen Rutherford to sort out some thoughts and ideas for the next quarter of marketing and socials.

✨ Thinking about this gorgeous brooch pendant we made using our clients own gold and stones from inherited pieces

✨ Exhibiting some glasswork at Poldrate Arts & Craft Centre - loving working in enamel this term and this clock was inspired by my trip to Australia and New Zealand last year.

✨ Judging Scottish Gemmological Association’s annual ‘Gem Set’ competition which sees entrants from the Scottish Colleges and Universities degree courses submit pieces to be judged in several categories. Other judges were Moira Patience of Moira Patience Fine Jewellery, Adam McIntosh of Two Skies Scotland and our very own Jacqui Mathieson ✨

✨ LOVING this new range of rings we are able to offer, each one being different and able to be fully bespoke too - a fun twist on the traditional eternity ring with scattered diamonds (or other stones) of different shapes. This pair have been earmarked by Clare herself! ;)

✨Did you know there is a Clare Blatherwick hallmark? Applied by Edinburgh Assay Office, having our own hallmark makes us super proud as it will mean in possibly hundreds of years, people will know which jewels we made and the sort of quality of pieces we produce.

We’re still just swooning over this showstopper - the centre stone is a unique, unheated purple sapphire, which is particularly noteworthy as most sapphires undergo heating treatments.

Clare bought it unmounted because she loved it and (more than) half hoped it would never sell so it had to stay in her collection, but when the perfect client for it saw it, her reaction was such that Clare couldn’t do anything but let it be happily re-homed!

The ring is set in platinum and accented with trillion-cut pink sapphires. To add personal significance, diamonds belonging to the client's mother were incorporated into the side of the setting.

It’s an absolute cracker, designed by Jacqui here in the studio and our client is utterly thrilled - hugs all round. It’s been a real pleasure to create this ring for such a lovely client!

We'd love to hear from you if you'd like some advice on where to begin with your jewellery remodelling journey.

What items of jewellery bring you most joy? 🤔
What pieces do you wear most often? Which items really make you feel great? We often find it’s rings our clients enjoy most as we can enjoy seeing them whenever we glance down.

Whatever you love, be sure to wear it. And if you’re wondering whether there’s a claw not sitting right or a gem a touch loose, please get in touch - we’d much rather help you at that stage than support you with a missing diamond later.
