When I heard the recent news surrounding Ebel, I automatically reached for mine.
I’ve owned this Ebel for nearly four years now, and you can imagine that when I purchased it, the price was comfortably under £1,000.
It’s fascinating how things can shift in the watch world, particularly when news breaks of a brand being acquired by some pretty significant names within the industry. Suddenly, a brand that has perhaps been overlooked for years finds itself back in the conversation.
I’ve always thought Ebel produced some fantastic watches, especially their earlier chronographs. There’s so much history behind the brand, and when you look at the quality, design and movements used in some of these pieces, it’s surprising how affordable they’ve remained.
I know the have always had a real love for Ebel, and over the years they’ve had some absolutely stunning examples. There have been so many I’ve genuinely drooled over! If you haven’t seen some of the watches they’ve had, I’d definitely recommend taking a look. It’s a great reminder of just how impressive some of these older Ebel models really are.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens next. Will we see collectors taking a greater interest in the brand? Will prices start to reflect the history and quality of these watches?
Who knows, but one thing’s for certain: I’m glad I picked mine up when I did.
And regardless of what happens to the values, I still think these are fantastic watches that deserve far more recognition than they’ve received.
