Hey gang! It’s so good to be back in the studio, honestly I’ve really missed it. I really didn’t think I’d miss it anywhere near as much as I did.
Hopefully you didn’t mind me sharing lots about our trip, it was great to have so many DMs from you all chatting about travelling with kids and whatnot. That’s what’s great about instagrams right?! I really feel like Instagram has lost the social element the past couple of years, lots of scrolling and no interaction which is such a shame so it’s always lovely to connect with you 💕

Just a heads up that our capacity for web orders is quite low this month as I’ve already committed to a wholesale order so please do place orders early on to avoid having to wait until April’s opening. Gosh, closing down my webshop and calling time on orders for the month felt SO STRANGE. Like going against the way I’ve always worked. But taking control felt liberating and I’ve had some great chats with so many of you fellow small business owners about balance, change, growth and how we measure success.

I feel like I’m finally finding balance with this little biz after nearly a decade. Always grateful to make a living designing and making pretty things for you so thanks! The shop REOPENS SATURDAY 1st MARCH. I know a few of you are waiting to place an order so thank you for your patience.

Again, we will be calling time on orders for month once we hit a certain number (takings not orders, cos I’m not going vat registered again!) so please do place any orders early on if they are of importance, wedding ring orders I’m looking at you 👀

Over the last nine years of so SA has constantly evolved and where I’ve wanted it to go has looked different over this time. I’ve learnt a hell of a lot and made a lot of mistakes! Constantly winging it 😂 BUT what I have learnt is that I’m much happier when I’m designing and making and not stressing about admin.

Once upon a time I thought going bigger and building a team and working on some mega wholesale orders was what I wanted to aim for and while I achieved this and it was great the realities were it was super stressful and constantly having to worry about making enough money for wages and big bills was just crap.

I’m so happy with where SA is right now, it’s exactly the right balance and I want to keep it where we are which means I’m going to be limiting orders each month once we hit our quota. This is mostly because I don’t want to go back to being VAT registered again and I’d like to keep our workload just the right amount. SO I will be putting our website on holiday mode once we reach that number and then reopening at the beginning of each month. Basically if you know you need to place an order, get it in early to guarantee it can be done on good time for you.

On that note, I have space for ONE MORE order this month!

Well done if you read all of that 😆 I like to be transparent, and running a small business ain’t easy!

This evening as the sun set and the full moon shone down on us we celebrated the last day of the Chinese New year, a two week long event! To be here in Chinatown, Malaysia was just an incredible experience, one I hope the kids will remember forever.

As we enter the year of the snake (my own year) I’ve been fascinated by the meaning of it and what this year may bring. The wood snake represents transformation, renewal and wisdom. Letting go of what no longer serves us and welcoming the new.

I love change and we’ve already had a fair amount thrown at our family both personally and business wise this year. Apart from the slightly worrying financial aspect I’m so excited to see where we will land. We’ve needed a big shift in our lifestyle for a while now, it was totally unsustainable, both of us working too much, always burnt out, exhausted and stressed. We’re making some huge lifestyle changes this year, including home schooling our children (eeek!) and working more together.

Stepping into this next chapter feeling equal parts nervous and excited! I’d love to know if you’ve experienced any shifts or changes recently? Or just generally how you feel about big life changes? Everything usually works out right? Right?!

Thanks for all your interest in our trip and following along over ok stories. Sorry if you’ve just started following and are wondering what the hell is going on! So here’s some actual jewellery content for ya. We’ve had loads of our wave stackers on the bench recently and a fave of mine that I wear daily.

As if we’re in the ninth year of SA. Seriously, it feels mad! Time flies when you’re having fun and all that.
It’s been such a journey, met some amazing people, built a life I love (mostly 🤪) and still bloody love my job. If you’d have asked me where I’d be in 10 years 10 years ago I wouldn’t have had a guessed here. I’d quit my degree at the end of my second year (best decision ever) and didn’t have a clue what to do but somehow here we are. And some of you have been here from the very beginning. There’s nothing I love more than opening a new order and seeing a name i recognise and luckily for me it happens quite a lot 😍
