Fantastically enjoyable first workshop learning painting with enamel. It is a complex and ordered technique...a little like the reverse process to a reduction lino. It required many kiln firings, and the addition and removal of protective coatings, and unfired painting enamel ( scraped away using the scraffito technique) on pre-enamelled steel plates to acheive our end results.

To clarify, this is vitreous ( glass) enamel...and arrives as very finely ground powder ready to be mixed, and blended and not a form of "enamel" (plastic?) paint. We also added beautiful gold lustre ( as used by potters) as a final decorative step. I cant wait to do more!

We were lucky enough as Region 5 members of the to be taught by the hugely talented Gillie Hoyte Byrom. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Amazing keum boo workshop with at today....loved learning more about keum boo. Its a korean technique to attach 24k gold to silver and we made bookmarks, using different techniques to texture the metal.

We also got to hold some of Jessica's beautiful beakers which was a fantastic opportunity to admire their detail. Such a great afternoon. All wrapped up with sushi and prosecco...what fun! Thank you so much Jessica and Amanda.

Experiments with bird stencils which I hand cut from a chocolate wrapper. Mixed results with the 3 pieces I played with. Varying time in kiln, layers if enamel and orxer of layers.

Definition is lost with time in kiln, something else created. Shadows swirling in front of the moon.

I'm looking forward to evolving this process...and aiming at a crisp stencil outline.

Heres my first deep copper bowl made yesterday. Light turquoise and cobalt blue. Fired in my little kiln, multiple times, with vitreous enamels, it also has rough burnt and raw copper visible, below the smooth edge..

I applied the washed wet cobalt and turquoise enamel with a brush, and did a final fine coating of sifted enamel in light turquoise.

Spring is springing! The garden is full of birdsong and sunshine. Its really lovely out there.

This week I will be taking part in the studio art sale at The Undercroft in Norwich (literally to one side of the market, but underground!) and there will be a selection of treasured pieces pulled from my studio's annual deep cleaning and presented for you to buy. Please do come by - there will be plenty of treasure from other artists too....it starts on Thursday.

First market of the year will be Alby Crafts on 23rd March. A lovely venue between Norwich and Cromer and a variety of artists, artisans & lovely food.

I'm updating my calendar on the website - so if you are keen to plan ahead and come along this is a good starting point.... new plans will be added as they are confirmed xx

Happy International Women's Day! Here is some I made earlier....larger earrings in turquoise and other colours.

New kiln isnt behaving and melted a copper dish (!) I trialled it with earlier....will need some expert advice on whats wrong as temperature gauge is reading low while kiln is red ( actually white) hot. I had no issue programming it so it shouldnt be going above 830 degrees centigrade....copper melts at 1085 degrees centigrade....

On the flipside I managed to use kiln concrete to fix the broken little kiln...hurrah...ready for next workshop and can continue production till then.

It's been a very quiet start to the year.

Full on hibernation in progress interspersed with new creative adventures in pottery, wallpapering, woodwork, painting, redecorating, tiling and drawing. My studio still isn't finished as there's wallpainting & decluttering to be done....cutting through a power cable set me back a few days, and son's illness a few more.

I'm quietly working on new ideas, new designs, and for those promised jewellery, I'm so sorry I'm still not up and running...but I've set a hard deadline of end of Feb

For those celebrating today - Happy Valentines. Sharing the love is always important, and creates light in these darker times. So give someone you love a squeeze and glow!

See you at the opening of The Mens Shed at tomorrow Saturday 15th. I have some jewellery in the raffle if youd like to win something Xx

Well hello 2025! I've very slowly been crawling out of hibernation the past week ready for my first workshop of the year on Saturday 25th at It's full for Jan and Feb but more spaces in March and April, at The Walled Garden and spaces available at so do check their website.

During the past month during deepest darkest winter it's been a creative journey and time for family, and reflection on the year gone....plus "a lot" of decorating as I've been learning new skills wallpapering, wood panelling and making shelves. A studio re-jig is in process...

My new joy is pottery classes held by which are profoundly soothing, uplifting and a highlight of the week. Here's a couple of images of makes from weeks 1 to 3. Bubble glazing today was so much fun....and the class is full of lovely people, as well as Jenny herself. Do find out more from her website xx

Norfolk Inspired Unique Jewellery

Combining my love of jewellery, silversmithing and passion for the local environment I live in I am developing a small business which will provide handmade jewellery inspired by the local seashore, countryside and organic motifs, textures and colours found in nature around me.

I aim to produce beautiful designs that are comfortable to wear, tactile and unique.

My jewellery is ideal for gifting and I can personalise pieces with stamped initials, dates and short sentences, depending on what the piece lends itself too.
