Fantastically enjoyable first workshop learning painting with enamel. It is a complex and ordered technique...a little like the reverse process to a reduction lino. It required many kiln firings, and the addition and removal of protective coatings, and unfired painting enamel ( scraped away using the scraffito technique) on pre-enamelled steel plates to acheive our end results.
To clarify, this is vitreous ( glass) enamel...and arrives as very finely ground powder ready to be mixed, and blended and not a form of "enamel" (plastic?) paint. We also added beautiful gold lustre ( as used by potters) as a final decorative step. I cant wait to do more!
We were lucky enough as Region 5 members of the to be taught by the hugely talented Gillie Hoyte Byrom. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
