This genuinely worried us… 😳
A friend of a family member recently saw these adverts and was completely convinced they were genuine.
And to be fair… can you see why? Well, aside from the free jewellery part! 😂💎
An elderly couple. A family jeweller. 46 years in business. Closing down and supposedly giving away their remaining jewellery for the cost of postage.
At first glance, it looks completely believable.
But then we looked closer…
The images appeared to be AI-generated, and independent reviews online raised serious concerns about the legitimacy of the business.
And it seems that this is a scam and the company is based in China.
And that's what really worried us.
This wasn't someone being careless or falling for an obvious scam. It was a sensible person who genuinely believed this was an advert for a long-established, family-run jeweller who was now closing down.
So it got us thinking…
💍 When you're choosing someone to make your wedding rings, how do you know who to trust?
Our advice is simple:
🔎 Check independent reviews, Google, Trustpilot, Facebook and other review platforms.
📅 Check how long they've actually been trading.
🏠 Check their contact details and genuine business presence. If a company doesn’t list their telephone number and email address, instead you have to complete out a contact form, ask why?
💬 Ask questions. A genuine jeweller should be happy to answer any queries.
🤝 Look for recognised industry credentials.
And this is something we take very seriously at Aspire.
