Meet Percy the Piranha 🐟
He may look fierce, but Percy is really just a colourful little river rascal made entirely from hand-stitched beads.
This piece was created using bead embroidery, which means every single bead is stitched one at a time. It’s a slow process, but it allows the textures and patterns to build up gradually — almost like painting with beads.
Percy definitely has opinions about things and insists on being the centre of attention wherever he goes.

One day of sunshine since January. One. The rest has been a long, damp rehearsal for Noah’s Ark, with a cameo from snow and a supporting role played by biting cold. Even George Clooney’s Thames-side house has been flooded, which feels oddly democratic. The weather is out here humbling everyone.

Meanwhile I’m indoors, tea in hand, refusing to dress like the sky. If we can’t choose the climate, we can at least choose colour. A statement necklace in February is not vanity. It is resistance. It is a small, glittering act of defiance against fifty shades of British grey.

Grey outside. Drama at the collarbone. That’s the mood.

Some days you wake up and think, “I’ll behave sensibly today.” And then you promptly go off and make something like Colour Cascade — a joyful tumble of beads that refused to stay in a straight line, thank you very much. I wasn’t about to argue with them; sometimes it’s best to let the beads have their little diva moment and simply steer the ship.

Colour Cascade is exactly what it sounds like — a cheerful waterfall of hues that absolutely insists on being noticed.
