Each piece is expertly created from conception to completion using the finest diamonds, gemstones and precious metals. Private consultations are available with Selini in-house designer and goldsmith Robin Girling to ensure our clients leave with a piece of jewellery commissioned to them personally.

A little bench tip for a cleaner rubover setting 🔨

The finish on your hammer tip leaves its mark on the metal, so it’s worth taking time to get it right.

I give the working face a gentle curve and a mirror polish, with no sharp edges. That smooth, polished surface helps produce a neat finish as you work the metal over the stone.

A rough face or sharp edge will leave unwanted marks in your setting. A little preparation makes a big difference.

KENYA APPEAL UPDATE 🇰🇪 💎

We’ve already gathered around half the equipment we need, thanks to everyone’s generosity. Thank you to everyone who has donated tools, shared the original appeal or offered to help.

For anyone seeing this for the first time, we’re helping equip a gemstone cutting and jewellery academy in Machakos, Kenya, giving young people the tools to learn practical skills and build a future in the trade.

People from around the world have been asking whether they can contribute financially, so I’ve now set up a GoFundMe for anyone who would like to help us get the remaining equipment.

Sometimes, getting the fit right means going back to the cutting wheel.

Here I’m setting the main stones across the front of this necklace: a 10 carat Asscher cut centre stone, with three graduated, hand cut sapphires on each side.

This is where having stone cutting and stone setting in the same workshop really comes into its own. As I bring the stones into their settings, I can make tiny adjustments to the sapphires themselves, trimming them to achieve the precise fit I’m looking for.

Being able to do both means I can work between the stone and the metal throughout the setting process. It gives me much closer control over how everything comes together.

Small adjustments, but they make all the difference to the finished piece.
