Hello peeps happy Saturday. I’ll be in the shop Tuesday if anyone wants to collect repairs or sell gold and silver, or need advice or discuss bespoke jewellery.
Meanwhile I thought I’d put this up fro an old friend I was at school with, Pete Holdsworth. I found it quite humbling and if I’m honest it brought a lump to my throat. Cheers Pete! It’s given me a few ideas as I do indeed have many stories from the jewellery world, militaria and as museum curator plus of course my music career. I met so many peeps so maybe I can weave some tales into my broadcasts! What do you think? 😎👍👍👍❤️
You asked for input on your broadcasts. Well for me, the antiques and jewellery was very engaging 9/10, it always will be especially jewellery. The precious stones 7/10, the military slightly less at 6/10. But for me and I think for others, the most engaging thing is YOU. Your style is engaging, your quips and when you move away from the main theme with a little story. You are the 10/10 element, far more than what you are talking about. So maybe a bit more with stories linked to you. The best things you ever bought and the worst things?. I remember being in the shop at Bedford and someone came in with a piece of silver that looked like an upside down lampshade. You had no idea what it was for but bought it anyway, probably for scrap silver. You made a phone call and someone advised you it originated in Ireland and was put into a tureen to increase the number of potatoes in it. You asked it's worth and was very pleased with the answer! A great buy without even knowing it. On another occasion a person came in with a gold necklace and asked what you would pay her for it. You put it on the scales and advised her something like £60. She said she had paid £300 for it at Argos. At which point you took a chain out the window, that looked more like something you would use to lock a bike wheel and said "this is what you would of got for £300 in this shop". No offence meant to her, but hopefully she had learnt a lesson for the future. You must have so many stories along those lines and don't always need to have a prop in front of you.Hope nothing offends in all this and my input is helpful 🙂
