Hang on - new chain / charm bracelets? And new tiny layering necklaces? Yup! I’ve been busy finishing off lots of making for Handmade for Christmas workhousechapel in Sturminster Newton - it’s set up weekend! This is always a lovely event with a huge collection of Dorset-based craftspeople involved, and it’s open all the way from the end of October to Christmas Eve.
There’s a few more new things to show you too, but everyone knows you don’t use up all your social content at once!!

⭐️Weekend Workshops⭐️
Dates for all the weekend classes running from now until April next year are now listed and ready for you to book. Lots of you are far more organised than me and plan well in advance so here you go! Quite a lot of spaces have been snapped up by the newsletter crew, but there’s still room in later classes if you want a spring treat to look forward to (or you’re planning a gift booking…)
ALSO don’t forget you can still book to make festive Christmas fairies or enamelled decorations if you fancy a pre-Christmas making day🎄⭐️

⭐️Stone set rings⭐️
This class is pretty technical, but today’s beginners group did a fantastic job. Six beautiful stone set rings (and a few extra stackers to go with). There’s a lot to cover in this class as everything is made from scratch including the setting, but the finished rings look really great - you can see the careful work pay off!
If you’d like to make your own stone set ring there’s another date for this class in February.

Some nice things finished by clever makers in classes this week 😊
Textured link bracelet hand made from wire, including a great chunky toggle clasp.

Sculptural forged bangle (looks amazing on!)

Beautiful use of reticulation to make the molten textures in the statement necklace. I love autumn, everyone starts making cool neck pieces to go with winter knitwear! This one looks stunning over a black polo-neck (please do contact me for more styling advice 😆)

This cuff is part of growing collection made from specially selected Australian beach finds. Fiddly to set, worth the hard work!

When the maker has a great manicure it seems a shame not to get them to model their work! This is a great example of the way you can use texture plates in the rolling mill to make patterns.

I’m busy working away on lots of pieces ready to fill my space at this year’s Handmade for Christmas workhousechapel in Sturminster Newton. ⭐️Spinner Rings⭐️
Todays group did a brilliant job - trying out lots of stamps and hammers, shaping, soldering, filing, polishing to make their own unique spinner rings.
If you fancy making your own spinner ring there’s another date at the end of January 😊

We were focusing on lost wax carving for casting in class last night. There’s a huge amount to cover so this was just an introduction - I’m looking forward to seeing how people work with this in future sessions. I really like teaching this, there’s a lot of potential! Quite a lot of sweeping up this morning though 😆

If you’ve come to a class with me you’ll know I can’t resist a new stamp to add to the collection. Obviously being here in Poole I feel duty bound to maximise the sea-themed options - so I’m adding tiny seaweed, seahorses (did you see the spiny seahorse habitat is recovering in Studland bay?!) and more shells. Stamp it up mermaids!
The squirrel stamp remains my favourite though.

Hardly any photos, too busy making!
A lovely group of complete beginners in today’s ring class. After trying lots of hammers and stamps everyone had different ideas of what style they’d like - super chunky and textured, delicate and wavy, stamped and decorated. Everyone did a brilliant job!

A super kind donation of sea glass from one of my lovely students. Perfectly timed for next month’s stone set ring class (suitable for all levels). Don’t worry if sea glass and pebbles aren’t your thing though, we have lots of gemstones to choose from too! The October class is fully booked, but there’ll be another chance in the new year 😊
