✨I still can’t believe I got silver!!! 😭✨
last week I had the utmost pleasure to attend the goldsmiths craft & design award ceremony in London held by , in which I received a Silver award in the 3D craft junior modelers category, for the level of craftsmanship and design, my jewelry collection brought to the collective.
I am beyond honored my jewellery was acknowledged by the esteemed judges, especially given the incredible and astonishing talent that I was up against and along side of.
Truthfully, when I went into this competition, I felt that with my current skill level, i would’ve been more then honored and expected to receive a bronze award, so the fact that my jewellery was given a silver award was and is an incredible achievement for myself and my goals to become a jewelry designer and maker of high standards.
My pieces - changes through life - express the battle between society constructive “norms” and individuality.
I designed each ring to express 2 main symbolism’s of positive and negative struggles we go through as we grow, mature, and self develop our own version of “individualism of expression” in life while conforming and fighting against the social expectations and demands, society has pushed on us from a young age.
Using animals as representations for, not just each struggle we go through but to express the excuse of “it’s in our nature” that is used as the reasoning for contradictory expectations throughout our lives.
Each jewellery piece:
The Soteria ring (chameleon)
The Eleos ring (octopus)
The memorabilia ring (moth)
I just can’t express how ecstatic I am right now🥳🥰🤩
I owe everything to my amazing teachers:
And my fellow students who worked together and supported one another to reach our goal’s 😭
