We’re incredibly proud to announce that NCI St. Agnes Head has been awarded the prestigious Alan Richards Award by the National Coastwatch Institution for 2026.

This award recognises outstanding contribution, leadership, teamwork, and dedication across the organisation — and we are deeply honoured to receive it on behalf of our entire station team.

The citation acknowledges the tremendous work undertaken over the past two years to raise funds and completely renovate our station, culminating in our rededication ceremony in May 2025.

This achievement reflects the commitment, hard work, and community spirit of all our watchkeepers, supporters, partners, and volunteers who made it possible.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout this journey.

Congratulations and thank you to every member of the team for your dedication to keeping a watchful eye along our coastline. 🌊

A big thank you to the Redruth Townswomen’s Guild for their very kind donations this week, following a presentation from our Station Manager, Mark, about the work of the National Coastwatch Institution at St. Agnes Head. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps us continue keeping a watchful eye along our coastline.

If any local groups or organisations would be interested in having Mark give a presentation about the work we do at St. Agnes Head NCI, please don't hesitate to get in touch - we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Many congratulations to Neil, our newly qualified Watchkeeper at National Coastwatch Institution - St. Agnes Head.

Neil is pictured here receiving his epaulettes from our Training Officer, Roger.

It takes time and effort to train and learn the skills needed to be a Watchkeeper, but it’s rewarding and time definitely well spent.

Welcome aboard Neil, it’s great to have you on the team. 🫡

————————————————————————

2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire. To commemorate the occasion, Spitfires.com have painted one of their two-seat Spitfire BS410 in the colours of K5054 (the original prototype), which they will fly on a tour of mainland United Kingdom in a series of 9 flights - one for every decade of the 90 years being commemorated.

The Spitfire 90th anniversary flight around the coastline of the United Kingdom, is a joint initiative by the Royal Air Force (led by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) and Spitfires.com.

Tomorrow (Thursday 16th April) is the eighth day of the celebrations and sees the Spitfire fly past our Lookout at NCI St. Agnes Head on its journey from RAF St. Mawgan to Exeter Airport.

Takeoff is planned for 10am, with an anticipated journey time of 55 minutes. On this leg of the journey the Spitfire will be accompanied by a A400M Atlas.

If you come up to St. Agnes Head to view this event, why not pop into our Lookout and say hello to our Watchkeepers and take a look at the recent improvements that we have made.
