Eternity Glass

Eternity Glass Handcrafted using traditional tools and techniques. Solid glass memorials and jewellery encapsulatin My sister makes glass in the USA, its a family thing!

My name is Ed Evans I am a glassblower and sculptor, originally apprentice to my father at our studio Glory Art Glass. We are now in our 25th year of business making and selling our glass to the public at our studio in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. Now also joined by my beautiful wife Hanna, who makes the jewellery. In 2006 a friend visited the studio with a "strange request" he wanted me to put

cremated ashes into a glass memorial. I had spoken to one of her friends over there and he had been putting peoples cremated ashes into glass for years so I knew it could be done. As with all making the best thing to do is have a go, so I did. Using all the techniques and colours I thought would make a beautiful paperweight, except this time adding a small amount of ashes in with the coloured glass crystals. The next day when it had cooled down we took it out of the kiln we were blown away, it was beautiful the ashes were covered in tiny bubbles twinkling in the swirling core, like looking into a tiny universe. I have been making memorials for people ever since. Over the years we have developed a range of memorials and jewellery you can view them on our website.

Ruby Oval
Cremated ashes memorial, handmade by Ed Evans.
Crystals of ruby glass swirl inside the core with a touch of goldstone to add sparkle. Ashes are applied over the core in two lines then gently twisted into a helix. Finally the whole piece is dipped back into molten clear glass encapsulating and magnifying everything within.

Aqua Silver Orb
Cremated ashes memorial, handmade by Ed Evans.
Ribbons of clear glass, silver leaf and aqua marine glass are layered and fused to create a delicate veil surrounding the core. The ashes gently swirl within, tiny bubbles attach themselves to the cremated fragments twinkling and reflecting light like stars in the cosmos.

I have to apologise for such a shoddy use of this page! I’m always working on the Glory Art Glass page, studio and business all the while neglecting Eternity Glass. We are connected, a shared family studio. This is the first post of hopefully many to better inform you about the memorials we make.
