This beautiful ring landed in our showroom today and while it may be new to us, it is steeped in interesting history!
A handmade, Art Deco piece from the 1930s, it is in exceptional condition for its age.
The sleek 18ct yellow gold band is topped with platinum settings, showcasing an approximately 1.7ct cushion shaped old mine cut diamond, and two elegant, elongated baguette cuts.
Cushion shapes are stylish and flattering, but nicely proportioned antique stones are difficult to find. This stone is likely mid-Victorian, re-polished in the 30s to improve the symmetry, and remounted in the current setting. The baguette cuts are also very characteristic of the Art Deco style with simple, clean lines, though the ones seen here are longer than the typical measurements.
