I've been on my polymer clay journey for a while now. I came across it completely by accident! I wanted to get in to wire wrapping jewellery but realised it was too intense for my arthritic hands although I would still like to give it more of a go!
With the polymer clay I love how creative you can be.
Over the years I've taught myself a lot.
The best brand of clay. The fact that you have to work the clay enough for it not to break. Learnt along the way through trial and error the amount of time and what temperature to bake at (its actually different to the manufacturers 'recomndation')
How to blend the clay to get what colour I want.
Have bought all the materials over time, a dremel, a pasta machine to roll out the clay, sandpaper, crafting knives, cutters, embellishments and findings.
I use the cutters but I also make my own shapes, add my own designs and make a lot from scratch.
Sometimes I sit there and it hurts my hands, its hurts my back.
Sometimes I have to take breaks for days or weeks.
However, I really love doing it. I love the creativity of it.
I sometimes can't sleep because I'm thinking of new designs.
I have too many ideas to put in to action 😂
Each item I create is unique and not always perfect!
It take a lot of time, I try to make it as perfect as I can!
It's not just about the selling of my work, its the fun in creating, plus the fact that this is the one and only hobby I have ever been able to stick to!
