October’s birthstone is Opal, and I’d love to share some care tips! To keep your opal beautiful, avoid heat, solvents, chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and repolishing. Be careful of scratches as well.

For Ethiopian opals, steer clear of steamers, ultrasonic cleaners, harsh cleaning agents, and perfumes. A soft cloth is perfect for cleaning. Keep opals away from any fluids or oils, which can be absorbed and damage the stone. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may also cause colors to fade.
