Joanne Tinley Jewellery

Joanne Tinley Jewellery I am a jewellery designer and tutor working in my wonderful studio in Southampton, Hampshire. www.joannetinleyjewellery.com

My jewellery is crafted to last lifetimes, designed with care to be cherished and passed down the generations, yet intended to be worn every day. A gift of love, a precious reminder of the birth of a child, an 18th birthday treasure, or a simply a treat for yourself to celebrate how unique you are. For me, jewellery is the most important part of an outfit, and usually the starting point when plann

ing what to wear to a wedding, party or even a day out with the family. All of my designs are made by me in my studio in The Sorting Office in Eastleigh, Hampshire using sterling and fine silver, 24k gold, semi-precious stones and handcrafted lampwork glass beads. Many of the stones and lampwork beads that I use in my Unique Collection are themselves unique and a joy to work with. However, my favourite technique is Keum Boo, a Korean technique that permanently bonds 24k gold to fine silver. It is this technique that I use in my popular Golden Collection. Many of my made-to-order designs are available for wholesale. If you are interested in becoming a Joanne Tinley Jewellery stockist and wish to set up a wholesale account please visit my wholesale website www.joannetinleywholesale.com and register for a wholesale account. For more information on my studio and how I create my designs please visit my blog at www.joannetinleyjewellery.blogspot.com

I run regular jewellery making workshops and offer private tuition too - for more details please see www.joannetinleyjewellery.com

There's something so special about this little pendant. The petal shape sits beautifully at the neckline, and that softly embossed flower texture catches the light in the loveliest way.

The golden shimmer comes from 24k gold permanently bonded to fine silver using Keum Boo, an ancient Korean technique that I've loved working with for years. The floral design itself started life as one of my own watercolour sketches, which makes each piece feel that little bit more personal.

The chain fastens at 16", 17" or 18" so you can wear it exactly where it feels right, and there are matching earrings if you fancy making a set. 🌸

I've got a lot to get through today! My poor Mollie cat as a vet appointment this morning (we think she's got arthritis) and then of course she'll need lots of love and attention afterwards - and so will her brother so he doesn't get jealous! I've also got to finish editing a couple of video classes. But my first job is to finish these hollow box teardrop earrings!

New in the shop today: Long Drops and Long Pebbles.

I designed these with long, eye-catching summer earrings in mind. Lots of room for texture, pattern, colour, and your own little bench experiments.

Long Drops is soft and elegant.
Long Pebbles is a little more organic and relaxed.

They’re both in the Etsy shop now, and I’ll be sharing a project idea over the weekend.

Which one would you try first?

Just showing off a few of the beautiful pieces of jewellery some of my students made in the last set of private tuition sessions.

We have Layla’s gorgeous stone set pendant, Sara’s amethyst prong set pendant, Sue’s lovely infinity bangle, and Maggie’s beautiful ruby ring. Such a brilliant mix of projects, skills and personal style.

One of my favourite things about private tuition is seeing how different everyone’s finished pieces are, even when we’re working on similar techniques. That little moment when it all comes together at the bench is always special.

There are still a few summer private tuition dates available if you’d like to come and make something of your own, whether you’re completely new to jewellery making or ready to build on skills you already have.

Full details are on my website https://www.joannetinleyjewellery.com/pages/private-tuition

Available as one-to-one or two-to-one tuition in my Garden Studio in Southampton.

Dates will are in the images, and full details are on my website https://www.joannetinleyjewellery.com/pages/private-tuition.

A wide band of flowing silver, patterned with interweaving flowers and leaves that began as watercolour and pen-and-ink sketches. The way the silver wraps around the finger means it wears differently depending on which way round you put it on and is comfortable however you wear it.

Hallmarked at Goldsmith's Hall in London, and presented in a dove grey gift box.

A dainty silver heart with a green sapphire cast right into it. The stone is placed into the sand mould before the molten silver is poured in. Only the hardest stones can survive that kind of heat and pressure, which makes each one a little bit remarkable.

The contrast of smooth silver and the natural irregularity of the sapphire is what makes this piece. No two will ever be the same 💚

These petal-shaped studs started out as interweaving leaves in a watercolour sketchbook, drawn in pen and ink, then embossed into fine silver and finished with 24k gold using Keum Boo, an ancient Korean technique that permanently bonds gold to silver.

The result is something with real warmth and texture, and because each pair is handmade, no two are exactly alike.
