What's the strangest thing you've engraved?

One of the biggest advantages of the Nano 60W is its versatility.

While it's right at home engraving jewellery, it's equally capable of handling a huge range of metal objects, making it a valuable tool for workshops looking to expand what they can offer.

For this demo, we engraved a cow bell to show that laser engraving isn't limited to rings, pendants, and cufflinks. If it fits in the machine, there's a good chance you can personalise it.

Sometimes the best way to demonstrate a machine's capabilities is to engrave something completely unexpected.

This is the workflow behind 100% wax 3D printing for lost wax casting.

Our wax models are printed in just over an hour on the WaxJet 51C, then placed in an isopropanol bath, where the support material dissolves, leaving clean wax patterns ready for direct casting.

Because they're printed in 100% wax, they fit seamlessly into the traditional lost wax casting process that jewellers already know and trust.

The real advantage is design freedom. Produce multiple identical pieces, create complex geometries that would be difficult to carve consistently by hand, and move from concept to production with remarkable speed.

Does infilling make a repair weaker... or stronger?

It's an easy assumption to make. If you're adding material, surely you're creating another weak point?

In the latest demo from Paul Paine at The Goldsmiths' Centre, he explains why experienced laser welders often see it the opposite way.

Rather than simply joining two surfaces together, infilling allows you to rebuild material exactly where it's needed, reinforcing the repair as you work. It's not just filling a gap, it's strengthening the job.

It's coming home... with me. 🏆

Using the Nano 60W, we engraved and cut our own miniature World Cup trophy before turning it into a keyring. From a flat sheet of metal to a finished piece, all with the precision of laser technology.
It's a great example of how quickly you can turn an idea into a custom product, whether that's sports memorabilia, branded merchandise, or personalised gifts.

The mistake almost everyone makes when infilling.

The instinct is often to ball up the wire and try to weld it onto the surface. In reality, you need to heat the workpiece and feed the wire into the molten pool, letting the laser do the work rather than fighting it.
