Struggling to hold everything in place? Try this. 👀

Blu Tack can be a surprisingly useful helper when you’re learning to laser weld. It stabilises small pieces so you can tack them together without having to hold everything in the air.

It’s particularly handy when you’re getting started, helping you position pieces accurately before moving on to the next stage of the repair.

In this tip, Paul Paine shows how he uses it at the bench, including for fine chain work.

We’re heading to Silver & Steel in Bristol for two 3 hour Laser Welding Training sessions with Paul Paine from Freeform Fabrication, giving you two opportunities to get involved.

🕜 1:30pm session

Whether you’re new to laser welding or looking to build your confidence, you’ll get practical time on the machines, guidance from an experienced goldsmith and the chance to work on your own pieces.

You’ll cover techniques including jump rings, ring resizing, re-tipping and tacking for soldering, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore what laser welding could do for your work.
