Hi all! 👋 Another interesting week at Trentham Jewellery Centre - with some fantastic bespoke work leaving the workshop, plenty of repairs coming in, and another varied selection of jewellery bought over the counter.

💎 First up, one of our recent bespoke transformations.

Our customer had a collection of older, worn rings that held plenty of sentimental value, but were no longer pieces she was likely to wear.

Rather than leave the diamonds sitting unused, we carefully removed the stones from the original rings and incorporated them into a completely new design - this beautiful articulated yellow gold diamond bangle.

It’s a lovely example of what remodelling can achieve. You don’t necessarily need to part with jewellery that means something to you simply because the style no longer works - sometimes the stones and precious metal can become the starting point for something entirely new.

🔨 We’ve also had a real mix of repairs through the doors.

If you look closely at the photo, you’ll spot several pieces with missing or loose stones, all now awaiting a little attention from our goldsmith.

Stone replacement and resetting can make an enormous difference to jewellery that may otherwise have been put away and forgotten about.

Whether it’s a missing diamond, a loose setting or a much-loved ring that simply needs some TLC, bring it in and we can take a look.

✨ And finally, another interesting week of buying in.

Among the pieces we’ve purchased recently are some beautifully crafted Asian gold jewellery, a substantial gold chain, a striking emerald and yellow gold ring, and a selection of diamond rings.

It's one thing to see a ring before and after its transformation. It's another entirely to see the skill, patience and craftsmanship it takes to get the final result.

Today we're taking you behind the scenes with our talented goldsmith, Greg, for a closer look at the intricate process of remaking a ring.

Hi all! 👋 A little look at what’s new at Trentham Jewellery Centre this week - from two very different full-set watches, to some vintage pieces we’d love to buy, and a simple bespoke remodel that gave an unworn diamond a new lease of life.

⌚ First up, two new watches have joined us.

We’ve recently added an Omega Speedmaster Date Ref. 3513.50 - a 39mm automatic chronograph with a black dial and a really wearable, sporty look.

This one comes as a full set and is a great option for someone looking for a classic Omega chronograph without going for something overly large on the wrist.

Alongside it is a particularly lovely Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Ref. 14000 from 2000.

At 34mm, it has that classic, understated Rolex sizing, but the blue dial gives it a bit more character. It also comes as a full set, making it a particularly nice option if you’re looking for a birth-year watch from 2000.

Both are available to view with us in-store.

🕰️ WANTED: Vintage watches - dead or alive!

We’re always interested in buying vintage and antique watches, and they don’t need to contain gold for us to take a look.

From old Omegas and Rolexes to military watches, mechanical pieces, pocket watches and lesser-known vintage brands, we’re interested in all sorts.

Working or not, boxed or unboxed, inherited, forgotten about or sitting at the back of a drawer - bring them in and let us have a look.

💎 And finally, a simple bespoke remodel with a lovely result.

Our customer already had a loose diamond and an existing white gold band, but wanted to turn the materials into something she could actually wear.

Rather than creating something elaborate, we transformed them into a clean diamond solitaire pendant with a white gold bail.

And that’s something we think is worth remembering with bespoke jewellery - it doesn’t always have to mean a grand statement piece.

Sometimes the best remodel is simply taking something sentimental that has been sitting unworn in a drawer and turning it into an elegant, everyday piece you’ll actually enjoy again.

Some diamonds are worth holding onto. The setting around them? That can always change 💎✨️

Our client loved the diamonds in her original antique ring, but wanted something more modern, wearable, and better suited to her existing wedding set.

Working with the original stones, we develoled a completely new trilogy design - refining the setting, proportions and platinum shank until we had something that felt right for her and could be worn every day.

The result - A beautifully balanced, custom-made diamond trilogy ring that keeps the most important part of the original piece while giving it an entirely new life.

From fixing a ring other jeweller's wouldn't touch, to buying in spme seriously interesting gold - it's been another varied week!

💍 First, a remodel with a very happy outcome.

A customer brought us this bespoke platinum and diamond crossover ring, originally made in Turkey, after it came back the wrong size.

They had previously been advised elsewhere that reducing the ring could affect the setting, so instead a raised wedge of platinum had been added to the back of the shank to make it fit better. Unfortunately, this hadn’t worked.

Our goldsmith was able to correctly resize the ring, remove the previous alteration, check and tighten the stones, and give the piece a full clean and polish.

The customer was delighted with the result and left us a lovely 5-star review - which is always wonderful to receive.

🪙 We’ve also bought in some interesting gold and bullion recently.

Pictured here is a vintage 9ct gold Omega, alongside a 10g gold bar, a US gold coin, and a gold ladies’ wristwatch.

Even the owner of a jewellery shop can get the gift wrong sometimes... 😬💎

Our owner bought his partner a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet - there was just one small problem.

It was slightly too small.

Rather than simply continuing the existing articulated design, we decided to make the alteration part of the piece itself.

Our goldsmith split the bracelet through the centre and created a completely bespoke addition: "Lucy", set in 18ct white gold with pavé diamonds ✨️

What started as a sizing problem became the focal point of the bracelet - and something far more personal than the original gift.

It'a also a perfect example of what our goldsmith is capable of. From clever alterations and repairs to complete remodelling and bespoke work, sometimes the best solution isn't simply restoring a piece to how it was before - it's finding a way to make it even better!

And perhaps, most importantly...

When a diamond came out of this cross, we decided to have a little fun before replacing it…

Changing just one stone completely transforms the piece - and it got us thinking about one of our favourite ways to make jewellery more personal: birthstones.

A sapphire for September. Ruby for July. Emerald for May. Amethyst for February… or simply the gemstone you love most.

Whether it’s replacing a missing stone, adding a birthstone to something sentimental, or completely remodelling a piece you already own, small changes can make jewellery feel completely your own.

A very busy week at Trentham Jewellery Centre ✨

Over 30 new fine jewellery pieces have just landed in-store and online, from statement antiques and diamond pieces to more delicate designs including a tennis bracelet and antique heart pendant.

Also new is a one-of-a-kind GIA-certified diamond ring, specially made after we sourced its distinctive emerald-cut centre stone.

⌚ Coming soon:
A discontinued Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31 Ref. 177200 with Red Grape dial, a full set from 2016, plus a TAG Heuer Carrera Date Ref. WBN2111, full set from 2022, with a silver dial and beautifully refined, classic styling.

✨ Recent remodels:
Our workshop has been busy transforming sentimental jewellery into something new. The two rings pictured were created from pieces already owned by our customers, including one made from a previous engagement ring and wedding band, reworked into a modern gold band with bezel-set diamonds.

⚖️ Recently bought in:
Another varied week of gold buying, from chains and substantial bracelets to unusual necklaces and a small bird-of-prey pin. All items were assessed in-store and customers were paid before leaving.
