The crablet wedding was a real family handmade affair. I was thrilled to make a few things for the day.
Here are a few pics of my contributions:

1/ The wedding rings. Fortunately they wanted silver. I can’t afford any gold failures!
2/ A prize for one of the many puzzles our son created for the day. A copper dragonfly on driftwood. I hope the winner was pleased with it after all their effort to solve the puzzle and open the chest.
3/ The stand for the piñata wedding cake. This was massively popular with the kids - especially our granddaughter (and chief bridesmaid) Lulu who gave it a right seeing to! Got to give Dan his 100 year old car wheel back now, although I think it would make a fabulous table top…
4/ A vintage-style surfing sheep hoopla. Again, the kids seemed to enjoy it. This will now be kept for the latest granddaughter, Pippa, for when she’s big enough to have a go.
5/ 109 wooden drink tokens branded with the wedding “logo”. Took a lot of burning. Our house still smells faintly of wood smoke.

There were plenty more handmade gifts and decor which made the day that bit more special and certainly unique.

We just got back from our son’s fabulous wedding at yesterday.
We, the crablets, their partners, our grand crablets, friends and family had a wonderful time capably catered and hosted by Lynne and her team.
I really want to thank Beccie of for her superb ceramic mushroom table centrepieces, beautifully complimented by Sharon’s stunning flower displays.
I can’t wait to see the official wedding photos from who, as always, is always in the right place to catch the action, even though you barely realise she’s there.
All thoroughly recommended for anyone looking to create an unforgettable wedding day!

The crablet’s wedding preparations continue…
Inside this chest is a prize I made for one of the puzzles he’s devised for the guests (doesn’t every wedding have puzzles and prizes?).
Check back in a couple of weeks if you want to see what’s in the box…

Just put these three pieces in .gallery in Uplands, Swansea.
They’ll sit alongside the amazing array of artworks Tim showcases there.
Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. It’s easy to find - near Brewstone and Sainsbury’s on Uplands Crescent.

Getting a few new pieces ready for the Vintage and Makers Market at the National Waterfront Museum.
The market is there on Saturday and Sunday (May 9th and 10th).
I’ll have a stall there on Sunday with these new rings and plenty of other examples of my work.
It’s always a great event with a huge variety of traders and coincides with two other events in Dylan Thomas Square - car show on Saturday and the Marina Market on Sunday.
Where else do you need to be?

New dragonfly piece completed ready for the Vintage and Makers Market at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea. I’ll be there on Sunday May 10th if you want to see it and my other work up close.
This is a flame-coloured copper dragonfly set on a large torch-fired wooden mushroom with a couple of smaller wooden mushrooms for embellishment.
See the pic with a mug for scale.
The large mushroom started life as a plain white wood mushroom from which I picked up in Ipswich a few weeks back. I liked the shape and thought I could do something with it. A lot of sanding, burning and waxing later this was the result.
I’ve made a few copper butterflies and wanted to do a dragonfly for a while, so this seemed like a good opportunity.
It’ll stand out on any shelf and the copper patina will continue to evolve over time.
As usual, it’s a one-off. Find another one…..!

The preparation for the crablet’s upcoming wedding continues.
Here is the traditional wedding cake piñata stand I have created from driftwood and a 1920s vintage car wheel kindly loaned to me by Dan
The wheel had sat outside for some time and needed quite a bit of rust removal and lacquering, but obviously I wanted to maintain the patina.
The second picture shows the wheel before on the left and after on the right.
I just hope the stand withstands the fierce bashing it’s likely to get on the day….🤞

Today I have mainly been building a vintage-style surfing sheep hoopla for a crablet’s upcoming wedding.
I believe this is a normal thing to do, although I did get some strange looks from passers by for some reason….
I’m not entirely sure what I’ll do with it after the wedding - anybody need a hoopla for an event?
Next task is to build the traditional wedding cake piñata stand. Watch this space.

I haven’t posted many new jewellery pieces lately. Been busy with makes and preparation for a crablet’s upcoming wedding.
I’m still making a few new pieces though. This one will be available on my stall at the Vintage and Makers Market at the National Waterfront Museum on May 10th.
With the sad closure of Adelante in Mumbles, occasional markets are virtually my only current outlet for jewellery pieces, although some of my other work is available in .gallery in the Uplands, Swansea.
If any artisan, gift or craft shop in the Swansea area is interested in stocking my jewellery and taking commissions for bespoke pieces, please DM me.
In the meantime, see you on May 10th!

As you can see it’s not too difficult to get a beach to yourself in Gower, even over Easter Bank Holidays.
Admittedly it was pretty windy and I didn’t like the look of this driftwood “lizard” lurking about.
