🐾 Woof Woof Wednesday 🐾

Last week, we had a bit of a scare with our precious 12½-year-old Quincey ❤️
For three or four weeks, he had been coughing on and off, but it suddenly became much worse. He was also becoming increasingly lethargic, not wanting to go for walks, and when he did venture out, he was walking very slowly. He just was not himself.
So, off to the vets we went.
After examining him and listening to his heart, our vet said she wanted a second opinion.
Naturally, my heart sank a little as she went to fetch another vet, who confirmed that Quincey had fluid on his heart. 😔
I came away with medication to help make him comfortable, with a follow-up appointment in a month's time.
That phrase, "to make him comfortable", is never easy to hear when it is your beloved fur baby 💔
Unfortunately, giving his tablets on an empty stomach, 12 hours apart, did not quite go to plan. So, we have been doing our best to make sure he gets them. Hiding them in carrots!
And then came the lovely surprise! 🥰
Within just 48 hours, his coughing had almost disappeared, and we began to see our old Quincey coming back. yay!
To our purprise he has perked up so much.
He is happier, brighter, and even playing with his housemate Monty again.
They have been chasing each other around the garden, something we have not seen Quincey do for a very long time.
But the absolute icing on the cake? We had a ZOOMIE from Quincey 😂🐾
We have not seen one of those for years, and I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to see him enjoying himself again.
The medication certainly seems to be helping him, and we are keeping everything crossed that he continues to do well. 🤞❤️
He will need to remain on his medication, at a cost of around £200 a month, but honestly, that is a small price to pay for our precious boy and the extra happy moments we get to share with him.
At 12½, every day is precious, and seeing that little spark back in his eyes means the world to us. ❤️🐶
So today, our Woof Woof Wednesday is dedicated to Quincey, our gorgeous old boy Cocker Spaniel, who still has a little zoomie left in him 🐾💕

A MUCH-LOVED FAVOURITE RETURNS 🥰
Oh, I am SO chuffed! Royal Albert Moss Rose is BACK!

There is nothing more gutting than launching a new design, watching it become a favourite, and then discovering that the china you need is either running out or becoming almost impossible to find!

That is one of the little challenges of working with vintage broken china. You can fall in love with a particular pattern, create something beautiful from it, and then discover that sourcing more of it is not quite as easy as you had hoped. And that is exactly what happened with my beloved Royal Albert Moss Rose.

Since launching my broken china jewellery, this has been my most popular design, so I was really disappointed when I thought I might have to say goodbye to it.
But… I have managed to find more plates - yay!
I am absolutely over the moon to have tracked down around six plates, which, fingers crossed, should give me enough china to make at least three or four more pendants.

As much as I love creating one-of-a-kind pieces, it is rather lovely to be able to make some repeat designs, too. It means I can spend more time at my workbench creating jewellery rather than photographing, listing and uploading every new individual piece.
And having a design that people recognise as one of mine is a lovely feeling in itself. ❤️

These pendants have been particularly popular with gentlemen looking for a meaningful gift for their 20th wedding anniversary, when china is traditionally celebrated.
The beautiful rose and forget-me-not pattern feels especially fitting for such a romantic occasion. 🌹💙

Working with vintage china means that availability will always be a little unpredictable. Once a pattern is gone, it can be gone for good, which is part of the charm but also one of the challenges of creating with these beautiful old pieces.
So, for now, Moss Rose is back in my Somerset studio, and I could not be happier!
Fingers crossed, I can keep this favourite going for a little while longer. 🤞

Oh, my lovely Nerines. 🌸
Every year when they appear, I feel exceedingly blessed. I still cannot believe that they are here after 30 years.
There is a little story behind these flowers.
Many years ago, I was an outreach community carer for the NHS, working in palliative care. One of the lovely gentlemen I visited had a garden absolutely awash with pink Nerines. At the time, I did not even know what they were.
I would tell him how beautiful his flowers were.
He was in his eighties and had lived in his house all his life. He had been born there, his father had been born there too, and it had been his grandfather's house before that. As long as he could remember, the Nerines had been in the garden.
He told me that all you had to do was split them if you wanted more.
I said that was lovely and that I would have to see if I could find some for my own garden.
"Oh, I will dig some up and give you some," he said.
Sadly, I explained that as part of our NHS contract and rules, we were not allowed to accept gifts. So, although it was incredibly kind of him, I really could not accept.
The following day, as I was leaving, he said "I need to check your spare tyre. Just to make sure everything is safe."
I said my tyres were perfectly fine. The car had recently been checked. however he disappeared outside and said to me that when I got home I should just double-check my boot tyre gaving me a little wink.
Well, to my surprise he had put a rather large terracotta pot in my boot, filled with Nerines he had dug up and replanted for me.
Oh, bless him. ❤️
Fast forward 30 years and those very same bulbs are still flowering every year.
The original terracotta pot sadly got frost damaged so has been replaced but in all those years I have never planted the Nerines in the garden. They are such a fond memory of such a lovely man. reminding me fondly every year as they wave at me from my patio. 💝

last week I was asked to make up a special order for a gent who wanted to buy a special present for his Wife breast feeding journey.
We had a few DMs too and fro before I packed up the parcel and sent to Ireland (yes i send EU Ireland!)
Such a proud kind caring man (as i find alot of partners are 🥰) and rightfully so too 😇

To be part of soneone breastfeeding journey is a joy and an honour, and reminds me over and over again how much i love what I do 💝

My heart pendant and pendants with pressed flower from my garden shall be part of the creative gift shop when it re opens in it lovely new venue within the market square in Tiverton Devon.
I love Tiverton so these are really excting times for sure 🥰

A little piece of an English springtime, captured in china.
I have been working with a beautiful piece of English bone china made by Shelley, from their Wild Flowers pattern.
I carefully chose the section featuring the bluebells and transformed it into my most popular pendant shape – an oval with a rope-effect edge, made from recycled sterling silver.
This little carousel shows some of the stages involved in making it.
From the original piece of china, through cutting and shaping, to using my grinder to create the perfect oval before sanding every edge smooth. It is then carefully set into the pendant, ready to become something quite different from its original life.
As you know, I love the idea of taking something that might otherwise be forgotten or discarded and giving it a new purpose. Repurposing vintage English china into something wearable means a little piece of its history can continue on, just in a different form.

Bluebells have always held a special place in the English landscape. Their sweet scent and carpets of blue appearing in ancient woodland each spring are one of those things that simply feel like home.
And, of course, no bluebell story would be complete without a little folklore. They have long been known as fairy flowers, with old tales suggesting that bluebell woods were enchanted places where fairies gathered. Some folklore even says the tiny bells were used to summon them. 🧚‍♀️💙

Whether you believe in fairies or not, there is something undeniably magical about bluebells.
This pendant will be available soon.

Thought I would share this amusing little mishap! 🤣
Earlier this year, my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, and as little thank-you gifts for our guests, we gave out packets of wildflower seeds collected from our garden.
They proved rather popular, and after a few people asked if they could have more, I thought, "Well, these seem rather popular!"
Naturally, being me, nothing leaves my house without being gift-wrapped! 🤣
So I bagged them up, labelled them, wrapped them nicely and listed them as a little garden gift.
Only to discover that some of my perfectly innocent garden seeds were not allowed to sell online as I had expected! 🤦‍♀️🤣
Poppy, hollyhock and foxglove seeds apparently fall foul of certain on line platform marketplace rules. 🤔

Now, I have to admit, selling hallucinogenic drugs was not exactly the business plan. I was selling bloody garden seeds! 🤷‍♀️🤣
So, after a little wrist slap, the listing has been removed and I shall simply move them over to my website instead.
In all honesty, that is probably a more fitting place for them anyway, as I particularly love the idea of using wildflower seeds and seed bombs to create memorial gardens.

I may even resurrect my seed bombs, which were incredibly popular years ago (and during lockdown). Although I seem to remember they were rather messy to make 🤔
So, I just need to break the news to my husband that seed bombs might be making a comeback! 🤣🤣

Mind you, he probably will not be surprised. I am always trying something new, or reinventing something I have done before! 🌸🌿

🎄 Christmas is coming (ekk) and it is never too early to start thinking about those special gifts.
With just over 100 days until Christmas, I thought I would share my Christmas order deadlines early this year.
Every year, someone leaves their order until the last minute, hoping that somehow I can squeeze it in. And every year, I have to disappoint someone because handmade jewellery simply takes time.
I would much rather help you plan ahead and make sure your meaningful gifts arrive in plenty of time, rather than anyone feeling disappointed in December.
