This pendant sold so quickly I never got to take a proper photo of it, just a quick snap! Do you think I should make some more pieces in this colour?

I had a lovely trip to London on the weekend to see Goldsmiths Fair and the Frida Kahlo exhibition ‘Frida: The Making of an Icon’ at the Tate Modern. Here are a few of the interesting places I came across on my journey.
Particular highlights included seeing St Pauls Studios from the coach window. What little gems these are! They were designed by Frederick Wheeler and built in 1891. I love the large windows at the top, almost like little conservatories.
I sat in the garden behind St Pauls Cathedral for a little breather. It really is an oasis of calm in the big city.
I also walked past the unusual Black Friar pub (built in 1875 on the site of a former medieval friary), with its beautiful Art Deco details.

It was a real treat to visit the Tate Modern on Sunday to see the exhibition ‘Frida: The Making of an Icon’.
I love Frida Kahlo. I discovered her work when I did my GSCEs and I wrote an essay about how her pain and suffering influenced her work. And she has inspired me ever since, because of her strength and her immense talent.
The exhibition itself was well put together, with Frida’s work displayed next to work by her husband Diego Rivera, her peers in Mexico and those involved in the Surrealist Movement. There were also pieces that were inspired by her work, as well as folk art and commercial objects that use her image. I must admit I was hoping for more Frida. There were some of her paintings, which I really enjoyed seeing and there were a few little gems that I’d never even seen in books before, which was wonderful, but I was hoping for a few more of the famous paintings. There was a homage to the ‘Broken Column’, but unfortunately it wasn’t the same as seeing the original for me.

I’m so pleased I managed to make it to Goldsmiths Fair on Sunday. It was the end of Week 1 and I met so many lovely, talented people. The variety of jewellery and metalsmithing on display was so varied and beautifully displayed. And the surroundings are just fabulous!

This is the last week of the Black Swan Open Exhibition in Frome, so not long left to have a look at the array of art on show! It will close on September 27th. It has been a pleasure to be part of this wonderful exhibition!

This is my sculpture, ‘Forest Rainbow’ which I created in memory of my friend April, a very talented jeweller who loved a rainbow and brought joy to all who knew them.
The forms are taken from trees and mushrooms, looking at their mutually beneficial relationship. The rainbow colours are all found naturally in wood and mushrooms, even blue! The key hole shaped fairy door at the base of the cylindrical form is a nod to the house pendants with pierced out doors that April used to make.
The piece is made from copper, silver and jesmonite (an eco-friendly resin)

This is the brooch I designed and made for the City of Suffragettes exhibition, an Association of Contemporary Jewellery exhibition which is part of Manchester Jewellery Week and will be on show at Manchester Craft and Design Centre from 10th September to 24th December 2026. It is designed to look like shattered glass. Emmeline Pankhurst, who founded the Women’s Social and Political Union in Manchester in 1903, called for Deeds not Words and those deeds included stone throwing and window breaking. It was the sound of smashing glass that alerted a gallery attendant to the defiant actions of three Suffragettes who damaged paintings in the Manchester Art Gallery. The colours I’ve used are those used by the Suffragette movement: Purple for dignity, white for purity and green for hope. I’ve included a bee is a symbol of modern Manchester, seen on buses, trams and street art, to signify the legacy of the Suffragettes.
