One of my favourite decisions from this wedding...
Giving the marquee more space than they technically needed.

We had a very wet wedding on our hands. Like, properly wet. The kind of rain where anything outside was going to be soggy and nobody was going to fancy standing around in the garden. So rather than filling the marquee with just tables and chairs, we had room for a whole separate sofa area inside.

And honestly? It completely changed the feel of the wedding.

Guests could get up, move around, have a chat somewhere comfortable, grab a drink and settle into the sofas without feeling like they were interrupting dinner.

They weren't all crammed around tables for the entire evening. It gave the whole space somewhere to breathe.

And that's one of my favourite things about good wedding planning, sometimes the best decisions aren't the big, obvious ones.

Sometimes it's simply giving people enough space to actually enjoy being there.

Beautiful

Can I say something slightly controversial?

Your wedding probably doesn't need more stuff.

I see it all the time. A couple starts with a really beautiful, simple idea and then suddenly there are signs, favours, personalised napkins, welcome signs, menus, table numbers, candles, bud vases, another sign because someone on Pinterest had one, and approximately 400 more things being added to the list.

And individually, they're all lovely.

But put them all together and suddenly the room is working very hard.

I think there's something to be said for editing. Choosing the things that genuinely add something and then having the confidence to leave the rest out.

Give me a beautiful room, good food, gorgeous flowers, candlelight and a packed dance floor over 700 personalised wedding details any day.

But, you can never buy too many candles...
