Backbone Drums

So sad to hear the news that we lost Colin Woolway this weekend. A great drummer and an even better human being! Colin helped me get started as a drum teacher over 25 years ago and allowed me to write one of his Drumsense books. He paid many visits to my music school (Tunbridge Wells School of Music) to perform master classes and then helped myself, Richard Davey and David Driver with our Drums in the Weald shows throughout the early 2000s. He was a real mentor and inspired me to create Backbone Drums. He will be sorely missed and I will be thinking of his family at this difficult time.
RIP Colin. X

Thanks to drum student, Ange, for sending this video of her working through my Drumables book with her autistic son, Johnny! Johnny loves art and music and looks in his element playing drums here! Good work! X

Great work from Reg today in his first lesson after the summer holidays. He said he couldn’t remember anything and then smashed it! 💥
Only on chapter 5 of the Drumables book and already playing a full groove with real songs IN TIME! Great stuff, keep up the good work!

A short video about drum lesson from the Drum Lounge!

The Drum Lounge took me about 4 months to build and has already proved to be a complete success with amazing soundproofing qualities and awesome acoustics! Teaching and recording have been an absolute pleasure and I’m now making a start on the videos for my ‘Easy Paced Lessons from the Drum Lounge’ series.

I had some great friends help along the way as well as the guidance and support from some brilliant companies.

Massive thanks to

I've just added a new playlist to the Backbone Drums YouTube channel which is dedicated to students using the BBD syllabus that are learning full songs. There is a cross section of students and all look and sound great.
Take a look and, if you're using the BBD syllabus and want to have a video added, just message or email [email protected] Thanks, D x
