1940s Style Montgomery Ward California G-1 flight jacket Size 42 (but see notes)

I have been asked so many times if this jacket is an authentic 1940s jacket, having researched it I can narrow it down to a 1975/76 civilian replica of the legendary U.S. Navy G-1 flight jacket due to the neck label, zip and care label.. During the mid-1970s, military surplus fashion exploded in America, and department stores rushed to create civilian-grade versions of classic pilot gear. it is rare and very good quality. I would be keeping it but it's just a little tight when stretching. It is a size 42 inch chest and does measure 21 inches armpit to armpit but it is a thick jacket so I would suggest 38 - 40 chest.
