From travels to treasure, Wendy’s reimagined bangle ✈️

Whilst travelling years ago, Wendy had collected several gold bangles. Although they held great memories, sadly, they felt quite thin, and she rarely wore them.

She wanted something with a bit more presence, a chunky piece that still incorporated gemstones from some of her original jewellery.

We created this mixed solid silver and gold bangle, combining brushed and polished finishes for texture. The design features flush-set diamonds alongside raised 18ct gold sapphire settings.

The finished piece has a strong, contemporary feel while carrying the memories of the original jewellery.

Wendy was delighted! And we’re not quite finished yet... I’m currently working on a pair of diamond earrings using her remaining stones. Stay tuned 👀

Susan came to me with an emotional story. Her first love and father of her children Derek had passed away before Christmas. His passing stirred up a lot of emotion for her and she wanted to create something that symbolised this chapter of her life.

Amongst her sentimental pieces included Derek’s wedding ring and a cross he had bought her, which she wore both on her wedding day and for the birth of her two children. She also had her broken engagement and wedding ring, plus her mum’s original wedding ring.

She asked me to reimagine the cross she’d worn all these years, and intertwine Derek’s ashes into the pendant. A piece that would encompass and hold together this chapter of her life.

I came up with three designs; this chosen design uses the white gold to create a vine which wraps around the cross, symbolic of wrapping that special part of her life. The sapphire from the engagement ring sits in the middle of the cross and below the cross, the diamond seals in the ashes below the cross.

The photo at the end is of Susan wearing the piece, she tells me it’s so special and she hasn’t taken it off since I presented it to her ♥️

Delicate heritage earrings for Katie’s mum 😌

Following Katie’s first instalment of reimagined pieces comes this pair of understated gold drop earrings.

As many of the original rings belonged to Katie’s mother’s side of the family, Katie also wanted to create something special for her mum using the remaining heritage gold.

Her mum’s style is more delicate, classic and understated, so we designed a pair of articulated drop earrings in heritage 18ct gold, set with diamonds. To keep that delicate feel, we made the articulated part (where the bar and the diamond attach) especially fine, drawing the wire down and then coiling it into jump rings (photos 5 and 6).

Comfortable for everyday wear, with a refined elegance. Creating these earrings allowed the sentimental materials to be shared across generations, honouring the past while giving Katie’s mum something she could treasure now.

Inherited gold can become a meaningful gift, reflecting personal style and symbolic of heritage. If you'd like to discuss this further, please request a consultation: www.deanabaker.co.uk/consultation 💌

Wendy's striking multi-faected stacking set 🎆

Wendy came to me with a collection of beautiful 18ct and 22ct gold jewellery set with sapphires, rubies and diamonds. Many of the pieces had been gifted to her while she was working abroad as a nanny, so they held lovely memories, yet the designs weren’t something she naturally wore.

Rather than leaving them tucked away in her jewellery box, Wendy wanted to transform the materials into pieces that felt more like her style: modern, chunky and practical for everyday wear.

One of the designs we created was a stacking ring set. This approach allowed us to incorporate many of her gemstones while giving her the flexibility to mix and match the rings depending on the day.

The finished stacking set is this striking four-ring design. Crafted in 18ct gold with a bold, modern feel, featuring numerous low-set sapphires, rubies and diamonds for comfortable everyday wear, that honours the memories of the original pieces.

Helen’s classic heirloom stacking rings 💍

Helen came to me with a variety of heritage and sentimental pieces she wished to reimagine together. Her nan’s diamond engagement ring and 22ct gold wedding ring, her great nan’s 22ct gold engagement ring, and her own diamond cluster and sapphire ring.

She also had other pieces, not of sentimental value, to offset against the cost.

Helen was after an asymmetrical design, with a modern yet classic feel. She was keen to only use diamonds and wanted a design that eventually could be passed on to her daughter.

I drew three designs for her, including two single stones ring and her design of choice, a classic stacking set.

This asymmetric diamond cluster with a flush set diamond band allowed us to maximise the diamonds she had and give her that classic yet modern feel.

Her daughter also loved the design, and Helen was very happy with the final set 🥰

Lucy's turquoise, opal and sapphire stacking rings 🩵

Gill, a long-standing client of mine, came with another commission for her daughter, Lucy.

Lucy had collected several silver rings over the years, many gifted by family members. While the stones themselves were meaningful, including sapphires, her opal birthstone and turquoise from her great-nan, the original rings weren’t being worn anymore.

Lucy wanted a stacking set encompassing all the sentimental stones, with low silver settings arranged in an asymmetrical design. And here is the final set, the sterling silver is finished in a high-polish with the gemstones each standing out beautifully. A perfect way to honour these meaningful pieces in a style she enjoy everyday.

Gill told me Lucy was so pleased with the set that she doesn't take them off!

If you have sentimental stones or jewellery that no longer suits your style, remodelling can often be a way to bring everything together into a piece you’ll genuinely enjoy wearing. Please request a consultation to discuss at www.deanabaker.co.uk/consultation

“I have these pieces from my loved ones, which I can’t bear to part with, but I just don’t wear them.” 💡

I hear this all the time from my clients: most of the jewellery brought to me isn't just gold and stones; it’s a collection of stories, memories, and people. It feels wrong to leave them tucked away in a box, but it’s hard to know how to change them without losing the sentiment.

I’m hosting my Spring Meet the Maker event over the Spring Bank Holiday—which booked out in two days 😁

I've since added two additional slots over Sunday, May 24th and Monday, May 25th. It’s a chance for us to sit down together and figure out how to bring those memories back into your daily life ♥️

If someone has already booked these appointments, please send me an email and I will provide my calendar so you can schedule a 60-minute 1-2-1 consultation either via Zoom or in person 📅.

Here is how we’ll spend our 30 minutes:

💎 Honouring your stones: We’ll look at your gems under the loupe together. I’ll help you identify what you have and give you an honest expert opinion on which pieces are durable enough to be reimagined into something you can wear every day.

🎨 Merging the stories: If you have different carats of gold or several sentimental rings that don't seem to "match," we’ll look at the technical puzzle of how to combine them. We’ll explore how to keep the soul of the original pieces while creating one new, cohesive design.

📏 Finding a fit for your life: We’ll talk about your style and how you live. My job is to listen and ask the right questions until we find a direction that feels authentic to you.

💰 Clear, honest numbers: I’ll give you a realistic ballpark figure based on the craftsmanship needed. Once we move to the final design drawings, I’ll provide a fixed, exact quote so you can move forward with total peace of mind.

Spring Meet the Maker: Now Booking 🏢

I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s in your jewelry boxes and hearing the stories behind the pieces. No pressure to have a plan—just a quiet chat to answer the questions you have.

A teardrop keepsake for Janine 💧

Janine came to me with several sentimental pieces that she no longer wore, including her late mum’s engagement and wedding rings, as well as a wedding ring from her first marriage.

Janine wanted a tactile pendant to wear upon an 18ct gold chain she already owned. She liked the idea of a pebble or dome-shaped pendant with no stones. A keepsake she could wear every day.

The final design became this solid 18ct hallmarked gold teardrop pebble. The chain feeds directly through the pebble itself, creating a seamless, modern look while keeping focus on the form. A unique piece that Janine can wear every day, which honours her story.

If you have sentimental jewellery sitting unworn, remodelling can be a thoughtful way to transform those pieces into a meaningful design to carry with you in everyday life.

From the bench to your story: Join me this Bank Holiday :)

I’m opening up my Swindon studio for something a little more personal this May.

🗓 Sunday 24th May & Monday 25th May
⏰ 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
📍 In-person at the studio or via Zoom

This is a completely no-pressure space to:

Bring your heirloom gold and gemstones for an assessment.

Discuss the potential of a bespoke remodel.

Get a guide on pricing and see if I’m the right fit for your story.

The Sneak Peek: Anyone who books a slot for these Bank Holiday dates will also get an exclusive first look at my new "Trace Texture" pendant before I officially launch later this year. 🕊️

I’m keeping these sessions intentionally small to ensure I can focus fully on your ideas while still making time for the bespoke commissions currently on my bench.
