Temporary promenade closure Bonchurch

As part of the ongoing ground investigations, desilting works (clearing out the drainage system and pipes beneath the promenade) will be taking place on the promenade between Bonchurch and Wheelers Bay.

To allow this work to be carried out safely, the promenade will be closed from Monday, 5 October until Friday 16 October 2026, weekdays between 8am and 6pm.

It will remain open in the evenings, overnight and throughout weekends.

Advance warning signs have been installed, and a signed pedestrian diversion route is in place during the closure period.

The Environment Agency appreciate this may cause some temporary inconvenience and thank you for your patience while these essential investigations are carried out.
