Lauren Grace Jewellery https://www.laurengracejewellery.com/ Fascinated from a young age with all things that sparkled and glittered, I was always destined to become a jeweller.

I first discovered a love of metalwork at school, going on to graduate from University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, where I won a Goldsmiths’ Company bursary for one of my designs. Inspired by architectural detail, decorative pattern, and childhood memories, I use traditional jewellery and goldsmithing skills to create jewellery that is playful, but also elegant and stylish. All of my jewel

lery is hand made and finished by me in my London studio and never mass produced in a factory, so you can be assured of receiving a unique and high quality piece of jewellery. I use recycled precious metals and chain manufactured in the UK, and all of my casting and gold plating is done by small British companies. All of the gemstones I use come from reputable, ethical sources and I never use conflict diamonds. Sometimes the simplest ideas make the most joyful jewellery. 🍋✨

This cute little lemon slice pendant began life as a plain block of blue jeweller's wax and, using just a few simple carving tools, was transformed into a cheerful citrus-inspired design. The segments were carefully carved and textured to capture the look of juicy fruit flesh, while the pith and outer rind were smoothed for contrast.

One of my favourite things about wax carving is how much detail can be achieved with such straightforward techniques. A few carved lines, a little texture, and suddenly a flat piece of wax starts to tell a story.

After carving, the pendant was cast in recycled sterling silver and polished to a beautiful high shine, bringing all those tiny details to life.

If you've ever looked at jewellery and wondered how it's made, this is exactly the sort of project you can learn to create at my upcoming wax carving workshops as part of the on 6 June.

I am loving how well these fingerprint impressions from my pendant workshop turned out!

These marine inspired pieces were carved during a recent pendant wax carving workshop, one inspired by a spiral shell, the other by the ridged folds of a scallop shell.

We then added a softer wax with a lower melting temperature onto the back of the pendants and the makers pressed their fingerprint into the surface of the molten wax.  The wax models were cast into recycled sterling silver, and now the finished pendants carry such a personal hidden detail - an actual physical trace of the person who made them.

As part of this year’s the lovely are kindly hosting me for two jewellery carving workshops on Saturday 6 June from 12pm onwards, including my very first public pendant carving workshop.

If you’ve ever looked at a piece of jewellery and thought “I wish I could make something like that”, these workshops are for you. Completely beginner friendly, relaxed, and no experience needed.

Using hard jeweller’s wax and professional tools, you’ll learn the ancient art of wax carving to design and create your own ring or pendant model from scratch. If you’re in love with your little wax masterpiece, you can then choose to have it professionally cast into recycled sterling silver and polished into a finished piece of jewellery you can wear forever.

Swipe through for more info:

✨ How the wax carving process works;
✨ Examples of pieces previous attendees have made;
✨ Reviews from lovely people who trusted me with sharp tools;
✨ A little bit about me and how to book.

And because it’s the Arts Trail, I’m offering 20% off the 6 June workshops – just use the code ARTTRAIL at the checkout!

One of my favourite things about teaching these workshops is watching people arrive saying “I’m not creative” before casually producing something incredible a couple of hours later.

I like to keep classes small, so tickets are limited. If you’ve been inspired by the pieces previous attendees have created and are thinking about coming along, now’s your moment ✨

A few weeks ago I hosted a private pendant wax carving workshop, and these were two of the finished pieces ✨

These two pendants started from exactly the same place - little blank slabs of jeweller’s wax.

One became this beautiful crescent moon, textured using steel tools heated over a candle flame and pressed into the wax. I love this technique because it feels very organic and watching the wax melt is really quite satisfying!

The other became a smooth oval pendant with carved sunshine and cloud detail. The maker also carved their initials onto the reverse, which I always think makes jewellery feel extra special.

Both wax models have now been cast into recycled sterling silver and polished to a mirror shine ✨

If you’ve been interested in wax carving, but aren’t really a ring person, I’ll be running my first public pendant carving workshop as part of the on 6th June.

Lauren arrived at the workshop claiming to be not very creative, but I would like to absolutely dispute this!

She carved this gorgeous playing-card inspired band, with a central heart and diamond shapes either side. It’s one of those designs that looks effortless, but it took real patience, a steady hand and a willingness to trust the process.

Now cast into recycled sterling silver and polished to a high shine, it looks bold and graphic. Total nightmare to photograph though – curved shiny surfaces are so difficult as they mirror every single thing in the room, so I just embraced the reflections in the end!

Jodi walked into the workshop with no jewellery making experience, then just casually made something that looks like it belongs in a gallery!

She carved a signet ring into the side profile of a face, kind of like a tiny tiki head statue, with so much detail and symmetry. She also carved initials on one side, and two tiny matching spirals on the other. 🗿

In wax it was impressive, and cast into recycled sterling silver, it’s just gorgeous - sculptural, characterful, and completely one of a kind. ✨️

I love these workshops for exactly this reason. I’m always so amazed by what people with zero experience create from scratch!

My next workshops are on 6 June at as part of the brilliant if you’d like to try out the art of wax carving for yourself.

Next up, Bel and Breeha came to the workshop together, having been friends since school.  They both started with a similar wax blank, but created something completely different.

Bel made a delicate, softly faceted band – slim, elegant, and polished to a high shine. It’s understated in a quietly confident way.

Breeha created a small signet with a square top, a textured band, and a tiny moon carved into the face 🌙

I love how both of the rings have turned out in silver, and that they’ll each have a permanent memory of the evening.

The rings from my last workshop have all been finished and ready to be reunited with their creators.

First up, Pam’s ring started life as a chunky circle of hard blue jeweller’s wax. She carved it into a band of honed facets, some polished smooth, others left with deliberate file marks. One of the things I love about wax carving is that leaving the marks showing the handmade nature of the piece translates so beautifully into metal.

Now cast into recycled sterling silver, it’s got this gorgeous mix of shine and texture that makes it feel modern and architectural. ✨️

Come and join me at the next workshops - now available to book on the website 📅

A little glimpse into a new commission in progress 🌊🤍

These are two custom wax-carved settings I’ve been working on for a pair of gorgeous sea glass pieces found by my client.

This time I’ve been using a different type of wax to my usual carving wax, which has a completely different feel to it. Softer, and with a lower melting temperature, it works well with more organic shapes.

I’ve added these little droplet details around the edges, inspired by the sea, which will eventually hold the glass safely in place.

Now they're off to be cast into recycled sterling silver, then back to my bench for polishing and finishing.

I can’t wait to see how they transform ✨
