Congratulations to Josh & Lauren🥂

Josh came to us with a firm idea for Lauren’s engagement ring, and so we got to work making a ring that perfectly blended his idea of fluidity and movement with a delicate feeling and it’s need to be durable.

Josh came into the workshop to choose a certified natural oval diamond and finalise some drawn designs before we started making the ring to suit the stone, this way we could guarantee the right balance between stone size and gold.

We were happy to receive the news this week that she said YES! Big congratulations to you both on your engagement.

This week has been incredibly special. On Thursday, I was awarded The Goldsmiths Company - Apprentice of the Year Award 2025/25. This beautiful medal, designed by Isabel Freemann and made by Thomas Fattorini Ltd, was presented to me by the Lady Mayor of London, Dame Susan Langley DBE, at Mansion House.

I was honoured to be invited, given this award and accompanied by the Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths Company, Brigadier Ed Butler CBE DSO, and by The Goldsmith Centre’s very own, Helen Dobson, who goes out of her way to support its apprentices. And of course my Dad, former master, Stephen Randall, who without all this wouldn’t be possible.

This is such a meaningful award to me as it is shortlisted by my incredibly talented peers, whom I look up to and have all made my whole apprenticeship experience a thousand times better than I ever could have imagined.

A big thank you, to all those involved in organising the City & Guilds of London Institute MCGI Awards& Livery Company Prizes ceremony.

Wednesday marked the completion of my Indentured Apprenticeship in Diamond Mounting at Stephen J Randall’s with The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. After five years of learning in the workshop and at day release to The Goldsmiths Centre, we are expected to produce a Masterpiece to present to the Prime Warden and Wardens of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths at Goldsmiths Hall. The piece is to exhibit all we have learnt and to challenge ourselves further.

My masterpiece, ‘First Flight’, is based on a dragonfly resting on an Iris beside the lake after emerging from the water until it’s ready to take its first flight. The sterling silver Iris and Dragonfly can be worn together as a brooch or separately as a pendant and brooch.

Every element of this piece has been made by me, by hand. For reviewing purposes, this piece is currently unset and without enamel, but I am excited to see it diamond set and enamelled early next year when I receive it back from review.

I am so pleased we took a leap of faith and began this five year journey as Master and Apprentice. Now to continue learning alongside Dad, challenging ourselves more and making beautifully bespoke pieces for you all in our family run jewellery and silverware business Great things to come we promise!
