I’ve been asked many times what my favourite piece is.
For a long time I deflected. How do you choose?
But if I’m being honest - it’s this one.
The boxing hare locket. A handmade silver locket, egg-shaped and heavy in the hand, that opens to reveal two gold hares sitting on tiny springs. They bounce. Gently, ridiculously, perfectly. Every single time it makes me smile.
I made this because hares have always felt like the most magical of creatures to me. There is something ancient and slightly otherworldly about them, the joy at catching a glimpse of one at dusk in the fields around our home, untethered, wild and free.
These two are caught mid-bounce, suspended in gold inside their miniature silver world. A secret only revealed when you open the locket.
It is, I think, the most joyful piece I have ever made.
Handmade in recycled silver and gold in my cottage workshop in rural England. A piece made not just to be worn, but to be kept, and one day passed on to someone who will love it just as much.
