Η Κλειώ Ξηρού γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στο Μπρούκλιν της Νέας Υόρκης. Σπούδασε Φιλοσοφία στο Syracuse University.

Το 1999 ιδρύει στην Αθήνα το εργαστήριο «KleoDrums» . Τα χειροποίητα ξύλινα και κεραμικά κρουστά της, συνδυασμός παραδοσιακών τεχνικών με σύγχρονα μέσα και υλικά, αμέσως διακρίνονται για το ιδιαίτερο ακουστικό και αισθητικό ύφος τους και αποτελούν βασική επιλογή κορυφαίων μουσικών και συνθετών. Συγχρόνως, συνεργάζεται με ομάδες χορού και θεάτρου, μουσεία και ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα.

Κατακτά την αναγνώριση και στο χώρο του σχεδιασμού από το 2002 με τα μοναδικά και εξαιρετικά περιορισμένης παραγωγής κοσμήματα της. Χαρακτηριστικά δείγματα των εν εξελίξει σειρών «View Carré» (κομμάτια κινηματογραφικού φιλμ ενταγμένα σε χειροποίητα βραχιόλια από PVC) και «Beginner's Luck» (αντικείμενα τυχερών παιχνιδιών δεμένα με ασήμι και χρυσό) έχουν παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις τέχνης και design στην Ευρώπη. Πωλούνται σε μουσεία, γκαλερί και μπουτίκ.
