Marianna Grammatikou and Vagelis Michailidis, both designers of Character Jewels, take us on a dream voyage in the world of jewellery design. Their exciting joint trip in creating jewels started off from Thessaloniki in 2001 when they both decided to share their vision and aesthetics and travel with their art in space and time. Inspired from ancient Greek craftsmanship they add elements of modern

living giving a stunning visual sensation. The use of simple lines, clear volumes, geometrical forms is the blueprint upon which they weave their art, as a tribute to their ancestors. Their tools are different metals combined with natural materials, a reminder of a return to mother earth. Finally their colors combinations add to their timeless classical creations a modern dimension. The Character Jewels take their creations throughout the world with the purpose to make people dream a journey through time and space. The work of the two artists has been participated in Biennale exhibitions

Marianna Grammatikou et Vagelis Michailidis, tous deux créateurs de bijoux, nous invitent dans leur atelier Character Jewels, pour nous offrir "un voyage" dans le monde de rêve de la création de bijoux où leur propre voyage commun date depuis 2001, au nord de la Grèce, à Thessaloniki. Passionnés par leur métier, Marianna et Vagelis partagent une même conception esthétique fondée sur l'Art de la Grèce antique. Leur inspiration, puisée dans l'artisanat de l'Antiquité Grecque, se mêle allègrement à leur modernité, apportant ainsi à leur œuvre un effet visuel impressionnant. Fidèles à cet héritage antique, à l'utilisation de lignes simples, de volumes clairs, de formes géométriques, ils en extraient l'essence dont s'imprègne leur propre créativité. Leurs outils, des métaux combinés à des matériaux naturels, nous ramènent à Gaïa, notre Terre nourricière. Un alliage flamboyant de couleurs insuffle à leurs créations un esthétisme dans lequel se fondent un classicisme intemporel et une réelle modernité, ce qui nous promet un voyage spatio-temporel excitant. Leur art, reconnu et salué dans le monde entier, est d’ailleurs récompensé via leur participation active dans des Expositions Biennales d'art contemporain.
