Nature needs a bit of magic to turn a clear rock into a deep red ruby. ❤️
Pure ruby crystal is actually completely clear by default. The rich red color happens when tiny traces of a natural element called Chromium get trapped inside the stone while it forms deep underground millions of years ago.
Here is why this parcel of 1+ carat rubies is so special:
1. Chromium is chaotic: As chromium gives the ruby its red color, it also creates extreme pressure inside the crystal, causing natural stress cracks.
2. Why most rubies get cooked: Because clean rubies are so rare, dealers normally bake them in high-heat ovens to melt away cracks and boost color intensity.
3. The unheated exception: Every stone in this tray was clean and richly colored straight out of the earth—100% natural, with zero heat treatment required.
