There’s philosophy behind Balinese harmony - 2 minute read

Tri means three, Hita means prosperity, and Karana means the causes.
In Sanskrit terminology, Tri Hita Karana is the three elements that manifest happiness,
or three factors that create physical and spiritual prosperity.

The Tri Hita Karana concept consists of three major wisdoms:
Parhyangan or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans with God,
Palemahan or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans and their natural surroundings,
and Pawongan or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans with each other.
It is believed that the harmony among these three aspects can generate a maximum benefit to the spiritual,
mental and physical well being of humans.

Parahyangan concept tries to create the awareness that each individual in this planet has to believe that they are part of God,
and God is inside them, in a hope that people will be able to control their minds and emotions towards their spiritual living on Earth.

Pawongan means harmony with humans. This harmony is very necessary because humans always live in groups. There are also people who live alone.
Even those who confuse themselves in their homes must still communicate with other humans whether it is through social media or family (those who are imprisoned).
So it is very important to maintain harmony between fellow human beings, one of which is to be tolerant and open minded and keep away from negative thinking.

The Palemahan wisdom represents a harmonic relationship between the human and the natural sphere.

As a Balinese, we believe if we can use the Tri Hita Karana principle to our daily lives, this world will prosper. There will be no difference between humans, there will be mutual respect, the environment will be safe, people will be more care to the environment.

Why it is important to have hotel employees as part of your business? - 1 min read.

In the tourism industry, a good reputation means a lot.
Guests will pay attention not only to nice scenery around the hotel but also will read comments about the hotel staff behaviour. During the trip, people expect to gather only positive emotions. They have high expectations for the hotel employees way before they arrive at the hotel.

The hospitality business is a service-based business. It's slightly different with the product-based business because lifecycle of the product ends once it is purchased.

Of course, the way of how a product is being sold is important, but it doesn't have that big influence afterward. It is different from services, because people will evaluate and purchase services based on the performance of the people, who sell it.

In this case, receptionists and reservation managers are the key people when talking about good service at the hotel. People can't touch or see the service before purchasing it. So they heavily rely on the experience while communicating with hotel staff.

Service of the hotel does not end with the room booking. In hospitality business services can go up to the guest's departure and even after it. Meaning, that hotel staff should go beyond of guests' expectations.

We root ourselves in the local area, examine the history and design of local buildings, understand the history of the area, speak to local businesses as well as scoping out the local competition.

Just as every picture is said to tell a story, so must contemporary hotels do the same. Today’s guests, particularly millennials, aren’t so much interested in gratuitous bells and whistles as they are in Instagrammable experiences that tell a story. This means hotels need to work harder to differentiate themselves and position themselves as authentic.

Find Authenticity Through Respect for Local Cultures - 2 Minutes Read.

Living like a local has become an essential part of getting under the skin of a destination for many travelers. Below are four ways to show respect for local cultures when you travel.

1. Dress appropriately.
Consider the local religion, culture, and climate when packing for a trip. Dress codes vary even within a country, and especially at important religious and cultural sites, where conservative clothing is nearly always the most respectful option.

2. Be mindful when photographing.
Always ask permission before photographing locals — even a smile and questioning eyebrow raise is enough to communicate the question.

3. Learn a bit of the local language.
Before you leave, take the time to learn a handful of words in the local language. Words like “hello,” “thank you,” and “please” grease the wheels of communication with locals.

4. Adhere to cultural etiquette, mannerisms, and superstitions.
Show respect for the local culture by researching appropriate gestures and traditions. Even the most commonplace action might be culturally inappropriate in other parts of the world.

When you travel with a sense of respect for the cultures and traditions you encounter, it shifts the entire travel experience. Respect is the first ingredient in making travel a force for good.

The first impression counts for us – 2 mins read.

Hotels have been around for centuries, and they give people all the services that people would have in their homes. Sight, smell, touch, safety, taste, and hearing. Those are elements that we trying to manage.

Sight, might be the most important one. The reason is simple. People love visuals! Other than cleaning, at The Phala another critical element is the arrangements, how are you displaying the colors and the furniture, and how are you making the best out of the lighting

Smell, when your guests enter your hotel, after looking around the interior, the second thing they will notice is its smell. Lately, The Phala work on our signature smell to fulfill this need.

Touch, to cover the basics, guests need enough space to be provided with the essentials according to their needs. Comfortable, slippers, curated amenities, and clean towels are just some of the few essentials that we delivered on daily basis.

Safety, the first thing that people expect the most is privacy and a calm environment.

Taste, we do care about our menus, however, we put more attention to harmful ingredients that people are more commonly allergic to.

At last, hearing.
Providing our guests with a positive attitude, when listening to any complaints they might have is something we are trying to master everyday.

Fulfilling the above-mentioned is a good start for us to keep our guests delighted with the service.
