Well, you have created a monster. After your recent reels about wearing brooches on pearls, I’ll been loading them on, more is always more apparently. Genius idea, don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself. Y’all need to give it a go!

I could’ve made a sensible reel to show off the small but perfectly formed Georgian heart but this bulge effect is fun. Hand cut paste stones are set in silver as was the fashion with a 9ct gold back. €225 on Etsy or DM to buy it here.

Never underestimate the power of a good glow up. This art deco marcasite brooch was tricky to clean but worth it. It’s a substantial piece - 70 x 45mm, and nearly 23 grams of what I’m fairly confident is continental silver.

I love the horizontal navette form and its most satisfying symmetry set with marcasites - some missing, and a mottled mint green glass cabochon centre.

I can’t prove anything about it though as the back has had a later pin replacement fixed with a blob of something that may be hiding hallmarks, so I’ll need to get it tested and appraised.

Looks nice with pearls so considering keeping it to convert into a large clasp for one of my strings. Or maybe not, I’m so fickle these days…

I haven’t had any time for sourcing lately but I saw this little chap and really liked him. A sterling silver brooch, he was assayed in Dublin in 1973. A simple and expressive design, made from a substantial sheet of sterling silver, the stylised elephant has a nice minimalist quality reminiscent of Scandinavian modernist jewellery of the late 1960s and 1970s.

I love his softly curved lines and elegant elongated trunk.

The reverse carries Dublin assay hallmarks including the Hibernia mark, harp mark and date letter F for 1973. The maker’s mark is hard to make out but appears to read “GCC”. While I haven’t conclusively identified it, it may relate to the Galway Crystal Company, which despite its name, produced a range of design-led Irish silver during the 1970s.

— Width: 3.9 cms
— Height: 3.5 cms
— Weight: 7.37 grams

Available on Etsy at €145 including shipping, or €125 here via PayPal F&F or Wise.

I got these vintage hearts ages ago attached to a chain I didn’t like. I removed the hearts and these ones stood out. There’s a large engraved heart, a smaller puffy heart, and two of the plain puffed hearts.

They’re light (hollow) with no hallmarks that I can find so I can’t guarantee they’re sterling, but they tarnish like silver and are not magnetic so could possibly be continental or lower grade silver. I’ll probably get them tested eventually, but realistically I’m unlikely to get around to it anytime soon, so happy to sell them as a bundle in the meantime if someone falls in love with them first.

Either way, they have a nice vintage feel and make very wearable everyday pendants ✨

Plain puffy hearts - 5.94 and 5.86 grams
Large engraved heart - 10.48
Small puffy heart - 4.44 grams

Group price for all four: €120

An antique paste appreciation post. I love antique paste jewellery - it’s generally handmade with skill and care and my collection and I are living our best lives together right now ✨

This gold plated paste brooch in particular absolutely catches the light in the best way.

It is personal collection but I do have some lovely antique Edwardian paste available in my Etsy shop if you’re interested.

Caught the light perfectly yesterday ☀️and my daughter wearing this stack of vintage aqua beads layered with freshwater pearls. Perfect for a hot day.

I can’t decide whether they should stay together as a set or be listed individually for mixing and matching.

Tempted to keep the whole stack exactly as it is.

What would you choose?

I’m always amazed at the sparkle of this Georgian diamond pendant ✨ It’s so old, made circa 1810, and at approximately 215 years old it, shouldn’t look this good.

Besides the main central rose cut stone, there are 25 further rose cuts set around the outline, mounted in silver with a gold back as was the custom at the time.

It’s available on Etsy at €2250 including shipping (and as it’s antique, it should generally be import tax free for US customers) but I can offer a better price here. Although I’m in no rush to sell it, the right person will know when they see it 🥰 DM for details.

The accoutrements on the antique silver chatelaine are all detachable so I took off the silver propelling pencil, made by Sampson Morden & Co in 1878, to show you how well it still works. If you saw my reel last week, you might remember the chatelaine itself; this is one of its most interesting details. Still quite tarnished as I haven’t had a chance to clean it up but you can see the paler section on the barrel which was covered by the mechanism.

Sampson Mordan & Co co-invented the propelling mechanical pencil and they became one of the great Victorian makers of luxury silver - chatelaines, vinaigrettes, scent bottles, notebooks, and all sorts of ingenious accessories.

There’s still a pencil in it. Possibly original but definitely not modern.

The whole chatelaine is available by DM. €1650 including shipping.
