Irish Birdtober – Day 15

Today’s bird is the Mallard!

I went with a male mallard for this one. I love the combination of colours, especially that green head. Such a familiar bird, but always fun to paint.

Irish Birdtober – Day 14

Today’s bird is the Oystercatcher.

Those red eyes and that bright orange beak make this bird look a little spooky, so it’s perfect for October! 👀

I love how such a simple combination of colours can make a bird look so striking.

Irish Birdtober – Day 13

Today’s bird is the Blackbird.

I love hearing blackbirds sing, especially in the early morning. Their song is so beautiful, and it always makes me stop and listen.

Fun fact: it’s actually only the male blackbird that’s black with a bright yellow beak. The females are mostly dark brown!

Irish Birdtober – Day 12
Today’s bird is the Wagtail.
I love watching these little birds walk around with their tails constantly bobbing up and down. They’re so busy all the time!
Fun fact: Pied Wagtails often gather in large groups to roost together at night, sometimes with hundreds of birds in one place.
