Handcrafted in Ireland 🇮🇪 | DM to create your dream piece. Hello, I'm Lydia Clayton, the goldsmith and designer behind each piece showcased on this page. My journey with jewelry started on my grandmother's farm as a child. Entranced by her beautiful pieces that she had collected over the years, my passion for jewelry was ignited. In 2011, I began building my art portfolio with teacher Stephanie Cu

ddy Cullen. I was accepted into the National College of Art and Design in 2013, here is where was introduced to goldsmithing. Following my graduation in 2016, I honed my skills under two renowned goldsmiths, one in the Netherlands and the other in London. From 2017 to 2019, I furthered my expertise at the Design and Craft Council of Ireland skills course in Kilkenny. Subsequently, I apprenticed at a prestigious studio in County Mayo and later worked with a distinguished goldsmith and diamond setter in Naas, Co. In 2022 I set up my own business, Lydia Clayton Goldsmithing.

✨ Your engagement ring doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

This bespoke piece features a rare coloured Dutch marquise diamond, set in heavy 18k yellow gold and finished with hand engraved celestial stars.

A ring designed to feel personal, distinctive, and completely one of a kind.

If you’re ready to move beyond traditional designs and create something truly unique, let’s design it together 💍❤️

♻️That gold sitting in your jewellery box? It could become this. 👇

We took a customer’s collection of gold gathered over the years and transformed it into this heavy, contemporary sapphire and diamond band.

If you have old, broken, or sentimental gold gathering dust, you could be sitting on a masterpiece waiting to happen.

💍 How it works:
• Recycle it: We can melt down your own gold and craft it into a new bespoke piece.
• Offset the cost: Use your gold as part payment towards a brand new design.

How gorgeous is this green tourmaline ring? ✨

This piece has such a lovely story behind it. My client brought me her mum’s original ring, which unfortunately had a stone missing. She wanted to recreate the piece so it would be strong enough for everyday wear, while still keeping the exact style and dimensions of the original design.

Her only request for the new piece? A vibrant green stone 💚

I sourced this incredible large tourmaline for her and, the moment she saw it, she instantly fell in love.

There’s something so special about breathing new life into a treasured family piece while still preserving its history and meaning.

What do you think of the transformation? ✨

Hi everyone, I’ve recently started writing weekly pieces for Hi Connacht, sharing parts of my work and life as a goldsmith and designer.

My practice is very hands-on. Everything I create is made entirely by me, with no mass production involved, so I’ve always felt strongly that the story behind the work matters just as much as the pieces themselves.
Writing has become a space to reflect on that. On craft, on time, and on what it means to create things meant to last.

Still pinching myself over this one ✨
When one of your oldest friends asks you to create the rings they’ll wear forever, it hits a little differently.

Ciana and I met back in university and instantly clicked, so being trusted with this moment for her and Sasha was a true honour.

They tied the knot at Slane Castle in Meath, and honestly, it was hands-down one of the most magical weddings I’ve ever been to.

The absolute best part of being a goldsmith is knowing these pieces will be lived in, loved in, and treasured for a lifetime. I added some beautiful, intricate engraving details to make their bands completely theirs.

Wishing you both a lifetime of magic, Ciana & Sasha! 🤍
