Look at the long sides, they are not parallel. What appears to be an emerald cut is in fact a custom tapered shape, and that single degree of convergence rewrites every calculation : facet angles, corner balance, pavilion depth.

Most colored stones on the market are cut for one thing: weight retention. Proportions are secondary. In much of the trade, that’s accepted. Not in ours.

When a Maison or a watch brand works to a schematic, the cut has to be exact. Which means we recut.

And recutting a colored stone is one of the highest-risk operations in the lapidary. Color concentrates in zones, pools in specific areas. Touch the stone again and you’re working against every decision the original cutter made. Adjust an angle — and the color shifts. Sometimes irreversibly.

The equation: perfect make, without losing the color that made the stone worth buying.

Calibrated cutting for a flat surface is already exacting. Every stone must meet precise dimensions, consistent depth, exact angles. Now curve that surface.

The geometry shifts at every point along the arc. A baguette that works at 12 o’clock on a bezel is not the same stone required at 3 o’clock. Each one must be adapted to its exact position — its angle, its depth, its face dimensions.

This is why most cutters won’t attempt it. It requires a fundamentally different approach, one built entirely around the geometry of the finished surface.

Watch bezels. Bracelet links. Ring shanks. Each with its own constraints, its own tolerances, its own margin for error — which on a curved invisible setting is essentially zero.

The surface curves. The precision doesn’t.

Invisible setting on a curved case is one of the hardest executions in diamond work, and the reason starts long before the setter picks up a tool.

No two stones here are identical. Each was cut to its own schematic, its geometry dictated entirely by the surface. The curve demands it.
