Pic 5 - Casa borges’ by - Almost took this one for a real repair shop, for how seamlessly it blended in with the Mattanchery shops along the road. For me this nostalgic, crowdsourced work of art is symbolic of how Kochi as a city isn’t just a backdrop to the biennale, it’s in the very foreground as the main character that ties the event together.

Pic 6 - ‘Divine smiles’ (2025) by , a pushcart inviting viewers to smile into open, mirror-bottomed cans, which are then sealed and installed onto the giant magnetic globe, making the viewer a permanent part of the installation. A heartwarming exercise in imagination and playfulness.

Pic 7 - Indelible Black Marks’ (2022-present) by - a significant film chronicling the dissonance of stubble burning, throwing light on the predicament of the farmers of Punjab - systematically disempowered by inadequate government support. Bales of prickly hay made the seating, and the hall smelled of musty farm warehouses of Punjab & Haryana, almost placing the viewer in the discomfort of the subject matter.

Pic 8 - ‘Kal’ (2025) by .hasan - a breathtaking floor piece replicating an ocean wave flooding the room, its froth fabricated in silver foil.

Pic 9 - This beautiful life-sized oil painting by that I wanted to take home with me. The use of colour, the large swathing brushstrokes and the quiet everyday-ness of the subjects has my heart.

Pic 10 - ‘Vichitra natak’ (Theatre of the absurd) by - an installation that pushes the viewer to wrestle with the absurdity of caste - a performance without script, sustained only by belief.

Pic 11 - ‘Between rooms’ - a Student’s biennale installation that made me smile and sparked nostalgia of my childhood home - the staple mosquito net, the open wall shelves overflowing with clothes, the neat little stools with steel utensils and the ubiquitous ant-lines.
