Isha Ambani made a statement at the Vogue Met Gala 2026 pre-party on May 1 with a custom Manish Malhotra x Swadesh bandage dress that reimagined Indian heritage through a modern lens. The strapless, fitted gown featured 26 distinct handcrafted borders, each representing a different region of India—from zari work and Parsi gara embroidery to Kanjeevaram silk, Paithani, Banarasi brocade, and kantha—developed over 450 hours by Swadesh artisans to celebrate the country’s diverse textile traditions. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, she paired it with a 300-hour ‘Majestic Leopard Couture’ hairpiece from Outhouse Jewellery and minimal diamond accessories, aligning with the Met Gala 2026 theme of “Costume Art” by showcasing India’s artisan craft as wearable art.
