Mayabazaar Mayabazaar makes distinctive jewelry using traditional crafting processes in an urban context.

Mayabazaar has carved its niche in the world of handcrafted jewellery and accessories. It works with grass root level artisans who had given up their tradition of charakkam or handknotting to work as migrant labourers in Mumbai. Infusing their craft with modern designs and unique ideas, Mayabazaar continues to create individual pieces of jewellery and accessories. Each collection is unique in its inspiration, reflecting a new season, celebrating festivals and most importantly womanhood in all its manifestations.

RÓISÍN
From the Ériu Collection

Róisín—pronounced ro-SHEEN—is the Irish word for “little rose.”
In Irish poetic tradition, Róisín Dubh—the Little Dark Rose—allowed the beloved woman to become an image of Ireland herself: beautiful, wounded, defiant and enduring. The rose became more than a flower. It carried a love of the land, feminine sovereignty and the quiet strength to survive without surrender.
At the centre of this necklace, a rose carved from pink rose quartz blooms within a frame of brass leaves and tiny wildflowers—less an ornament than a talisman. A long gold-toned cord is punctuated by repetitive burgundy hand knots. They appear at once as buds and thorns: soft, sculptural forms carrying their own protective strength.
Each knot is distinct, yet held upon one continuous line—echoing the Ériu belief that memory, land and life remain interconnected.

DOIRE
From the Ériu Collection

Doire—pronounced DIR-ra—is the Irish word for an oak grove or oak wood.
The great forest of Shillelagh once clothed the hills and valleys of South Wicklow in oak. Over centuries, its timber travelled into ships, roofs and distant cities, while the forest itself slowly receded. Today, only fragments remain.
Doire is an ode to that lost woodland—and to the memory of a place that survives long after its landscape has changed.
Multiple strands of forest green and near-black beads descend from a dark hand-crocheted neckband, creating the density and quiet rhythm of trees standing together. Scattered brass forms appear between them like fragments of old bark and shafts of light breaking through a shadowed canopy. An off-centre brass talisman interrupts the order—an ancient marker, imperfectly preserved, still holding its ground.

FÓDLA
From the Ériu Collection
In Irish mythology, Fódla stood beside Ériu and Banba as one of three feminine personifications of Ireland—three distinct names held by one land. Her name endured as a poetic name for Ireland.
That idea becomes the heart of this necklace.
Exaggerated knots carry the memory of an unbroken line. Paired brass squares introduce symmetry, rhythm and human order. Then the order gives way to stones that refuse uniformity—each preserving its own form, markings and earth-born colour, yet finding balance beside the others.
The hand knots. Metal measures. Stone remains itself.
Fódla is a talisman of belonging without conformity—an ode to the wild sovereignty of the land and the quiet strength of many distinct forms held as one.

Airmid
From the Ériu Collection

Airmid takes its name from the woman-healer of Irish mythology who gathered the herbs that rose from the earth and understood their individual gifts.
Here, crocheted medallions hold the coiled energy of a fern before it opens. Fine threadwork trails like new fronds, while luminous mother-of-pearl and a shell pendant draw the sea into the woodland story. Chain and fibre meet asymmetrically, giving the necklace the feeling of something grown rather than constructed.
The fern belongs naturally to Ireland’s rain-washed woodlands—ancient in form, yet continually renewing itself. Airmid celebrates that quiet intelligence: the strength to unfold in one’s own time and the instinct to begin again.
